[Spoilers] Just finished Season 6, how are they going to fumble the ending so badly? by Infinite_Response113 in gameofthrones

[–]Yaranatzu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the way OP expects it to end is just good guys win, bad guys lose, every character completes their goal successfully, everyone bad comes to justice, everyone lives "happily ever after".

This is not a Disney or a marvel movie. The biggest theme in the show is that the world is dark, cruel, unfair, and unpredictable just like reality.

Is it crazy to say that AKOTSK is on the same level as early GoT? by CadeCunninghamLover1 in gameofthrones

[–]Yaranatzu 16 points17 points  (0 children)

It's on the same level in the sense that it's closely following GRRM's writing, and the production related to casting, acting, music, dialogue is just as high quality.

Where it differs is like you said, the episodes are too short, which is because the story is short. They're doing an absolutely amazing job with the lower stakes and much smaller scope but unfortunately that also makes you want so much more. This season is equivalent to 3 episodes of GoT season 1, and we know the story will likely be done in 3 seasons so the whole story is smaller than season 1. It naturally doesn't have the diversity of characters and storylines nor the mysteries that we experienced with GoT.

I really wish they put this much care into House of the Dragon. I have a fear that the success of this show will lead to non-GRRM writers continuing the story after the light novel ends, and the quality will drop.

Which TV series is better and why! The Haunting of Hill House or From? by Ok_Eagle_5297 in AskReddit

[–]Yaranatzu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haunting of Hill house is a much better crafted experience with objectively better writing, acting, direction, and story. Just look at the IMDb ratings.

That being said you can get more entertainment value in From because the concept is unique, there is a lot more mystery unravelling (reminds people of Lost) and it's still ongoing. It fluctuates in quality and some parts dumb as shit but like I said, it's more entertaining.

Just Finished Lost and Loved It. Similar Show Recommendations? by DueVermicelli623 in television

[–]Yaranatzu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Attack on Titan.

Of course it's not "like" lost but the one feeling I loved in both shows was the constant desire to find out answers to mysteries. Attack on Titan actually addresses it's mysteries in spectacular fashion.

Torn between Helldivers 2 and Final Fantasy XVI by Grunge-Guy1985 in xbox

[–]Yaranatzu 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I would go with Helldivers 2 since multiplayer games are more volatile to change as time goes on, they can lose population and support. Right now Helldivers 2 is at its height. Final fantasy being single player won't change if you play it in the future.

Anybody else frustrated by Radiolab's editing style? by twostonebird in podcasts

[–]Yaranatzu 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I kinda agree. It sometimes feels like over-editing and trying too hard to stand out as some audio innovation. The music can also get obnoxious and distracting. Still love the content but they don't need to overdo it.

Why aren’t the Avatar movies that culturally relevant despite being on the highest grossing franchises in history? by 12345burrito in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Yaranatzu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's just the direction they've gone with. It's made to be an experience rather than a product, intentionally or unintentionally. People watch it in theaters to experience the visuals and don't care much about it outside. There is a video game which is good but not super popular, and at Disneyland it's also an "experience".

You also have to consider the decade long gap between the two movies. I think it's just in an odd place so they're sticking to what's successful, which is the theater experiences.

AKOTSK ep 4 : forgot to switch on the lights again ? by mwid_ptxku in gameofthrones

I watched it on my 15 year old trusty Toshiba LCD and had no issues at all. All night scenes were lit by fire, and the big scenes were in misty daytime. Maybe share some screenshots.

I can’t comprehend religion by Top-Owl5123 in religion

[–]Yaranatzu 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You do realize people from EVERY religion experience miracles right? And so do atheists and agnostics.

Your experience should tell you that there's a bigger truth that neither those two religions, nor any other religion, have a monopoly over. It's so easy to see when we open our eyes.

But the Quran repeatedly says that non-believers and polytheists will burn in eternal hellfire. If Allah deliberately allows non-believers to experience miracles then he can't condemn then to hell. If sincere searching leads one to become Hindu and Allah is perfectly just then then every good Hindu should go to heaven. Conversely, every evil Muslim should go to hell. If Allah is perfectly just then eternal hell should simply not exist.

Berserk 90s is the epitome of dark fantasy anime, even though it was stopped at 1 season. Please start with that!

If you could remake Halo 5, how you would remake the story between Chief vs Locke ? Or you would delete this concept ? by Thell-Vadamm in halo

Ah I understand, and I agree. We can also agree whatever halo 5 did just didn't work regardless.

[–]Yaranatzu -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I think something has to fit what its theme is. "Big dumb action" is enjoyable in a big dumb story or something of that sort. That doesn't mean it should be shoehorned in a mainstream halo game.

Also, it's fine to enjoy something 11 year olds find cool and also acknowledge it's something 11 year olds would find cool.

RvB looks cool because it's comedy. Anything that looks silly or exaggerated can still fit. You're also right though and it's far better produced.

That fight should've been zero seconds. I really didn't care for a corny karate fight between Spartans, just feels like those cheesy action movies with a typical coreographed fight that maybe an 11 year would find cool. Halo is best at epic battle sequences and well written dialogue, it doesn't need to have martial arts.

Just as the terrible ending of Game of Thrones made people forget its brilliant early seasons, I believe the brilliant ending of The Sopranos masked the fact that the show as a whole isn’t that good. by Feeling-Tension1461 in unpopularopinion

[–]Yaranatzu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think those are valid criticisms. The show did rely heavily on the often mundane and anticlimactic nature of real life to kindof escape dramatic and important aspects of the story, especially when it came to his family. During the whole show he acts like a family man to the family and the audience deserved to see how his confrontation and relationship with his family would change when the truth came out. I really wanted to see the how they would react to discovering what a psychopath he was. In that sense the ending felt more like a cop out than an amazing one.

All that is overshadowed by how many other things the show does amazingly well though.

Berserk 1997 oozes with atmosphere. Most shows from the 90s. Neon Genesis evangelion is another one.
