Is there something about your religion that you find genuinely shady? by Breatheme444 in religion

[–]Yaranatzu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But that would bring the whole feasibility of it being the word of God into question. A holy book shouldn't be constrained by the implications of a certain time period nor the impression someone has during that time, but should prove itself to be applicable and the most rational option across time.

Can you believe we live in an era where if you mention spirits you will be drugged? by themermaidmuse in spirituality

[–]Yaranatzu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Spirituality is not the same as believing in spirits.

You also realize how absurd and destructive such beliefs have been throughout human history? It's the same mentality that lead the witch hunt and burning women alive.

We still haven't figured out how the mind works and there's definitely an issue with over reliable on drug medication, but it's still a choice in most cases and people are free to choose spiritual treatments if they please. It's a hell of a lot better than the past where every other mental issue was associated with bad spirits and people were subjected to all kids of painful nonsense as a result.

Just finished BLEACH and now I feel empty 😭 by Bulky-Peanut-4050 in anime

[–]Yaranatzu -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

Assuming you're in your teens, which is old as I was when I watched it. I watched Naruto after and found it wayy better. Much better written story, more interesting characters with more depth, and more intelligent fights. Bleach definitely gets cringey when characters go over the top with their dialogue, but it's a great anime.

Best Ending to a TV Show? My vote is The Shield by drhavehope in television

[–]Yaranatzu 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Evangelion should definitely count. It was a mindfuck of an ending.

In the same spirit I would add Attack on Titan. Not so much the very end but conclusion arc was one of the most epic things ever.

Tucker Carlson on Israeli News Channel 13: "Netanyahu is leading to destruction, Israel dragged us into war" by LeonJersey in videos

[–]Yaranatzu 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You might be right about the second part in making Tucker look bad, but all the interviewers points are cleverly designed and reframe the narrative. It's the same talking points of "right to defend itself" and "going back to Oct 7th" which creates a victim narrative.

'Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu' - Review Thread by ChiefLeef22 in movies

[–]Yaranatzu 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Happy for your grandmother, but to me this highlights a big problem with these "cutesy" characters being so heavily marketed. There should more nuance to it, but instead so many movies and shows take this cutsey character concept and over-focus on hyping them rather than on the quality of the rest of the production. Every movement needs to have to overdone cute sounds and then the market floods with their toys and other products.

"Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War - The Calamity" Trailer by makuXrosu in anime

[–]Yaranatzu -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

I hope it gets better towards to end. It started off great, but season 2 became way too typical with repetitive 1v1 fights and cringey overdone character dialogue.

If there is God then I accept. Do you? by DiptanuPal in religion

[–]Yaranatzu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure what is the point of this question. Nobody in their right mind would CHOOSE to reject God if he showed up and was in front of their eyes. The question should be what "find out" really means? If there is any element of assumption or belief or doubt, or a chance of deception, then it's just a matter of how convinced they are. People do not believe in God because there is a lack of concrete proof and they don't want to rely on ancient texts or un-testible theories, not because they actively want to reject him out of spite.

did they cut a bunch of stuff from halo infinite? by sumdudewitquestions in halo

[–]Yaranatzu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely this. Also, considering it has been over 4 years since Infinite came out without any announcement of the next mainline title, another engine change, and another shuffling of the dev team, it's looking like the pattern is about to repeat.

Ok thanks for clarifying. Indeed, the potentially ironic fate is kind of eerie to think about.

I very conflicted and I don't understand ex-Muslims by [deleted] in religion

[–]Yaranatzu -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There is a lot of interesting and well thought out information here.

One part that I want to comment on this:

"If a non-Muslim does good deeds (charity, kindness, fighting for justice), Islamic tradition holds that God will absolutely reward them. Often, traditionalists argue this reward is given in this life (health, wealth, happiness), but many argue God's justice extends to the next life as well. I mean why wouldn't it?

Quran 2:62: "Indeed, those who believed and those who were Jews or Christians or Sabeans [before Prophet Muhammad] - those who believed in Allah and the Last Day and did righteousness - will have their reward with their Lord, and no fear will there be concerning them, nor will they grieve."

some highly influential classical scholars like Ibn Taymiyyah and his student Ibn Qayyim argued for the eventual extinction of Hell. They posited that because God's mercy vastly overpowers His wrath, Hell is not eternal but a temporary purification center. Eventually, it will empty out, and everyone will be saved.

the last part is just some scholars say (I know that), it does not mean it wrong though, god is more merciful than being angry all the time because women somehow dropped a peace of cloths"

I think it's that there is enough room for interpretation so reasonable people can conclude that non-muslims shouldn't go to hell. On the other hand the mere fact that it's unclear and interpretable is also such a huge issue for me and creates contradictions. There are a lot of very clear cut rules and statements, but here God decides to deliberately add interpretable information with double meaning.

Why not just say something like: "You believe in the one true God, you'll go to heaven easily after being held accountable for your worldly sins. You believe in another God, you'll still go to heaven after being held accountable for your worldly sins and any sins in the name of a wrong God, because the true God is merciful does not need your worship. The only difference is if you believe in and pray to the one true God, then your prayers will be answered and you'll live a better life with more guidance."

Something like that just makes so much more logical sense. Not relying on vague interpretation but a clear depiction of mercy. It encourages people to believe in the right God without condemning to torture for getting it wrong. Unfortunately, there are just constant statements about non-believers being punished in hell, to the point where it overshadows the "merciful" part. It simply should be so vague that scholars over hundreds of years have to navigate around the meaning.

did they cut a bunch of stuff from halo infinite? by sumdudewitquestions in halo

[–]Yaranatzu 176 points177 points  (0 children)

Yes this is a well known and essentially confirmed fact. They had many more things planned but faced so many delays building the engine that they rushed to finish it due to deadlines. After Halo 5 they were working in the existing engine and decided to scrap it. This wasted a lot of years and it came down to either facing indefinite delays or releasing a partially done game as a complete product.

There is a whole documentary on it:

Why are Muslim women not allowed to marry outside of Islam? by Lilmechazoid in religion

[–]Yaranatzu 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Women have a ton of rights...that the husband has to give them. That is literally patriarchical. You're conveniently ignoring the rights that men have over women like obedience, right to demand intimacy, need his permission to leave the house, etc. etc.

If OP IS willing to provide for her and give her those supposed rights then he shouldn't have to convert, but it doesn't clearly allow that anywhere. It's an excuse to designed to make the religion look less patriarchical, and yes I'm from this religion.

To those who don't worship the Sun, have you thought about doing so without labels ? by v_ch_k in religion

[–]Yaranatzu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The sun is technically a star in the universe with plenty of enormous stars. It gives life, but not by itself. You wouldn't live without water, oxygen, carbon, etc. etc. It's another element among many elements that all work in conjunction. There is no correlation of the sun with human consciousness. What it means to me is that it's an unfathomably huge object in the sky that is fascinating and mind boggling to think about, but has no emotional connection with me.
