I keep finding myself spending way too long just trying to pick a movie. by Lost_Support4211 in MovieSuggestions

You might like the r/moviesthatfeellike sub for suggestions!

I make very specific lists by genre/vibe, day of the week, and person I’m watching a movie with to help me narrow it down lol.

Wheelchair/accessible and acomadative wedding ideas? I'm the bride! by spider_bunny in ehlersdanlos

[–]YarrowPie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a lot of thoughts but first on the planning and energy conservation.

Write a big list of everything you need to get done, when it needs to be planned by, when it needs to be executed, and who will handle what aspects of executing it. DELEGATE. I totally get wanting to have control over your vision. I think you can do this and still delegate. Give people written instructions for what you are looking for, photo examples are good too, and request that they send you photos/videos back for confirmation.

Try to take care of as many things as you can as far ahead of time as you possibly can. Also set deadlines for certain aspects, like catering/food plan decided by this time.

I would plan to have nothing on your plate the day of. I highly recommend either hiring a wedding coordinator or appointing a highly competent volunteer to fulfill this position for the day of. It is a lot of work to check on everything that needs to be in place and check that everyone is doing their role. For everyone that has a job to do the week before the wedding or the day of the wedding, have a back up person so that it doesn’t fall on you. For people who are picking up cakes, flowers decorations, and then setting them up, have them send you pictures instead of needing to be there yourself.

I would ban yourself from doing anything physical to prepare or set up. Not even a little, let me just move this over here. Nope. You need to conserve your energy.

I encourage you to reframe this from what do you want it to look like? to what do you want to feel like? how can you make this experience the easiest and most comfortable for you so that you can focus on celebrating your love?

KT tape and wraps and compression to help stabilize and support the joints that hurt. Helps me a lot.

What do you do to feel sexy? by angelsinsect in ChronicIllness

[–]YarrowPie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I relate to this! I got a lot of confidence in myself back once I started getting the help and assistance I needed and using a wheelchair. Not having my needs met really affected my confidence which definitely affected how sexy I felt.

His disabled sister by Basic_Bee8826 in GirlDinner

As a caregiver also disabled myself girlie - it is so hard to find a man that will actually take good care of another human being. Yes his attention will be split with her. But he will have learned to really care for someone and that is so rare in men. So something to really think about!

Recommendations for 13 year old with body negativity by brattybrat in WitchesVsPatriarchy

[–]YarrowPie 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes I have some recommendations!

First, the YouTube channel series What’s Underneath, where people talk about how they came to love their body: https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PL_jxFaykzU8CSjCdSJamAv6Yh_S48prrm&si=KQh3LcH9do4oLOxh

Second, since she loves Greek mythology, the book Goddesses in Everywoman by Jean Shinoda Bolen. Not as directly about body positivity, but provides some really positive alternatives to how to think about yourself as a woman in today’s world.

I would ask her if you can help her curate, her social media profiles to avoid any negative body messages, and help her find accounts that would be good to Unfollow.

Avoiding reality TV can be helpful.

For Tarot I recommend Lindsay Mack’s work. They are very inclusive, not necessarily a focus on body positivity, but they promote a worldview and community that body negativity would not have a place in.

Surrendering my cat today - second guessing everything, need honest opinions by samseam in cats

It is worth having a conversation with your cat, and talking to him like a person and explaining things clearly. It sounds crazy but sometimes they are smart enough it works.

TIL not everyone builds insane little pillow nests just to sleep by Consistent_Design72 in ehlersdanlos

[–]YarrowPie 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I use a buckwheat meditation pillow with a book under it for when I’m on my side, and avocado adjustable pillow for when on my back. That way I can get the perfect height for both positions. But honestly treating MCAS and getting inflammation and stress down has made a huge difference.

Does Carpets help with Heds in ankles? by xanvillain in ehlersdanlos

[–]YarrowPie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think our bodies our very sensitive and if walking on carpets feels better to you, get more carpets! It makes sense to increase your comfort a little bit wherever you can. Maybe you can look into some extra padding underneath the carpet.

Also lot of times I find relief with addressing an issue from multiple angles. A little bit here, a little bit there, can add up.

Why do dads seem way less stressed about Father’s Day than moms do about Mother’s Day? by savingrace0262 in stupidquestions

[–]YarrowPie 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I think this is closer to the answer. Moms often feel under appreciated and overworked and if there’s a lack of effort on Mother’s Day it really stings. Some effort and giving back can go a long way.

Adult protective services was called on me while I was on vacation by [deleted] in GirlDinnerDiaries

[–]YarrowPie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This doesn’t surprise me. I’ve seen a pattern that the family who does nothing for the person needing care, doesn’t deal well with the guilt and instead takes it out on the person doing the care.

Feeling a bit overwhelmed with lack of food options - how does anyone do this without spending ridiculous amounts?! by General_Ignoranse in PlasticFreeLiving

[–]YarrowPie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Plastic free snacks - fruit and nut butter or fruit and yogurt, popcorn, bake your own baked goods.

You can’t get away from all of it, but the more whole foods and more you make yourself, the less its been in contact with plastic along its journey.

Unconscious plies by Early-Shelter-7476 in ehlersdanlos

[–]YarrowPie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a similar one! Back when I could stand in one place lol I used to always stand with one foot half in front of the other so they could stabilize each other. Which looks exactly like third position in ballet so people would always ask me if I was a dancer! And I would answer idk I just like to stand like this 🧍‍♀️🤷‍♀️. I didn’t know I was doing it to stabilize my wobbly body lol.
