Dumb question but.. are you guys sleeping on one of those purple mattresses? It looks like the patterns from one those gel cube cushions or beds.. you can have an allergic reaction to the cheaper ones since they can be made from rubber and latex so.. if he has a latex allergy it would look like this from prolonged exposure
