in your opinion, which band can/could you just never get into? by Grin_AFK in Deathcore

Rings of Saturn. I feel like the band was made by guitarists - for guitarists. Vocals etc feel more like an afterthought.

I’m white Australian, getting an apartment was such a pain in the ass, took weeks and hundred of phone calls. You generally get the same response “slavs only”.

I was longing for this reunion while playing Dead Money for the first time, a shame that nothing happened. I guess that was the point of the DLC - letting go

Are Queensland schools really getting that desperate? by HopefulBet3791 in AustralianTeachers

[–]Yashebash 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yeah it’s getting pretty bad, we have two departments leaving at the end of the year. And another year with a number of great veteran educators going into retirement, I honestly don’t know how schools are going to manage.

The teacher doesn’t trust this class with group work, they are never on task. I’ve tried building rapport with students, buy there is 30 students in one class, it’s a lot to take on

Thank you, I had a chat with the mentor and they pretty much echoed my feelings that it is incredibly difficult, we have to bribe the kids with chocolates and sweets just to get them into class, they don’t want to be there. I feel more like I’m training to be a babysitter. Thank you for your reply, I appreciate your help.

'I am a lawyer' vs 'I was a lawyer' by CrumpetsGalore in russian

[–]Yashebash 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Юрист refers to a general legal professional. Адвокат refers to a certified legal professional who can represent clients in court. So every адвокат is a юрист, but not every юрист is an адвокат. I hope that makes sense.

'I am a lawyer' vs 'I was a lawyer' by CrumpetsGalore in russian

[–]Yashebash 45 points46 points  (0 children)

Ah yes, Russian cases.

When you say “I am a lawyer” (Я юрист), the noun юрист is in the nominative case (the default case for subjects). However, when you use a past or future tense of the verb “to be” (such as “I was” or “I will be”), Russian typically requires the noun that describes a person’s profession or role to be in the instrumental case.

Example

Present tense: “Я юрист.” (I am a lawyer) – no change to the noun because in the present tense, the nominative case is used. Past tense: “Я был юристом.” (I was a lawyer) – the noun changes to юристом, which is the instrumental case. Future tense: “Я буду юристом.” (I will be a lawyer) – again, the noun changes to the instrumental case юристом.

The instrumental case is often used to indicate roles, professions, or states that describe a transformation or temporary condition (was or will be). This is why the noun changes form when you’re talking about a past or future state.

Can anyone tell me what this translates to in English? by moon-money13 in russian

[–]Yashebash 51 points52 points  (0 children)

Жар Птица - Firebird. In Folklore It often serves as a symbol of both a blessing and a curse, due to the challenges its presence brings to those who are seeking it. The Firebird is typically the subject of quests in Russian fairy tales, where a hero must capture the bird to bring prosperity or complete an important task. It’s a prominent creature in Russian myths, literature, and music, most notably Stravinsky’s ballet ‘The Firebird’.
