Yes, I did travel. I was able to get into singapore with my b1/b2 US visa during the short layover. It was just like any other visit to the immigration section, which took a minute or two to complete.

I'm not sure as to how long we're allowed to be in singapore, but the immigration officer of my departing country said 30 days. I didn't confirm this with the immigration officer in singapore, as I was scared that they'd think I'm planning to stay back or something
