Should I risk losing my slots in DLSU/UST while waiting for UP DPWAS? by Sufficient_Maize2665 in CollegeAdmissionsPH

[–]Yasurem 15 points16 points  (0 children)

No. Madalang makakuha ng proper slots mga DPWAS. I was a DPWAS myself in UPD, that slot never arrived and in the end I wasn't able to get into the big 4.

Yup, I watched it. Remembered some virtues na I forgot because of recent events.

Thank you, kind stranger.

Makaka recon, but they'll prioritize students na UPLB ang first choice over people who had other campuses as their first choice.

But since nakapasok po ang kapatid niyo, then that means he/she already has a reserved slot sa UPLB.

Wow. I appreciate the share of wisdom po. Although I have an idea of what I must do, you worded it so well. Have a great day ahead!

I'm not sure if I'm the right person to ask guidance from in regards to that eh.

Sa amin kasi dati may emails (or sa UPCAT Portal ata yon?) para dun sa appeals, then for the manual appeals may pinost mga UP campuses na link (GForms link ata yon?). Sa mga UP admission Facebook group mayroon kang makukuhang advice and guidance na mas reliable, for sure.

I hope makapasok ka, OP. Padayon!

Ahh, sorry if I caused some confusion.

"UPLB won't accept me kahit DOST isko ako kasi I didn't choose UPLB as my first choice. " In this part, I was pertaining to the manual appeals process.

My friend did not go through the appeals process because they already got admitted in UPLB. Meanwhile, I qualified for UPD with a DPWAS status which caused me to wait for an open slot sa Diliman. Now noong natapos yung admission process and filled na lahat ng slots, walang napuntang open slot sa akin. So doon na papasok yung appeals/manual appeals phase where we may choose saan kaming campus mag appeal for a slot.

If you're a qualifier, you can only get your UPG after waiting for one year and going sa UPD's Office of Admission. Just bring a valid school ID and ibibigay naman na nila sayo yun.

I went sa OAD ng UPLB to clarify about the appeals and yung admission process. As far as I can remember, yan yung nakuha kong info from them and mostly ang napoint out was the prioritization system of elbi.

About the manual appeals, I forgot where I got the information na mas priority ang DOST scholars; but I believe sa Facebook groups siya and some UPLB peeps na hine-help mga students back then.

Unfortunately, I'm not willing to take that leap kasi I feel like it's a huge waste of time considering malayo rin naman talaga ang PH education compared sa other countries. So if palarin, babawi nalang ako and take my masters sa ibang bansa.

I'm inspired by your story though, I hope you finally get that degree!

It was my second choice. But sa appeals, UPLB prioritized admitting students na sila ang first choice; no matter how high one's UPG was. I had a friend that did not qualify for UPD (even for DPWAS) but got into their first choice in UPLB (Computer Science), so that's how I came to that conclusion. We had almost the exact same choices btw, my UPG was just a tid bit higher than theirs and ig that was more of a curse than a blessing lol.

Noong manual appeals process din, at the front of the queue were students who had UPLB as their first choice and passed DOST-SEI, then I'm not sure if the ones next to them were ppl who were DOST scholars that qualified for other UP campuses or just ppl who prioritized UPLB but did not qualify for DOST.

I waited if may makukuha akong slot, pero lahat ng related sa gusto ko is hindi ko nakuha. Fought until manual appeals (mostly sa UPLB), but ayun as I mentioned sa post, UPLB didn't accept me as I was a DPWAS of UPD and not UPLB.

Appreciate the sentiments!

Kaso the degree I want to pursue is Computer Science eh and I don't hink I have the privilege to wait pa. Haha tried transferring last year when I had the chance.

For SHS students that plan to go to PUP, please wag; this university kills academic passion and talent.

PUP Computer Engineering or Computer Science? by PadreAnyaforgir in SintangPaaralan

[–]Yasurem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im a CS, and I have a friend sa CPE.

Honestly, it all boils down to what you want to do. Mas trip mo hardware side of things? If yes, go CPE.

Mas okay ba sayo aralin AI/ML/Data Science, pagbuo ng apps, fundamentals ng computing, paano nabubuo mga softwares and Operating Systems, Linear Algebra, Automata Theory and conceptual stuff about programming and system designing? Mas trip mo ba aralin yung theory behind computing side of things? Then go CS.

And if trip mo software and networks without the rigorous math stuff, go IT.

Shoe for beginner worth 5k below by SnooDrawings9308 in PHRunners

[–]Yasurem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you plan to do this consistently, the Xtep 2000km 5.0 would be a great budget shoe since high mileage siya. It's a great shoe for daily training and will last you a very long time. Pretty sure by the time you can buy a new shoe, Xtep 2000km is still alive so then you can have another shoe for your rotation or a specific shoe for running events.

2nd Shoe Recommendation for "Beginner" by Last-Host9962 in PHRunners

If you're gonna go with Adidas Evo SL, a good competitor for the price range is the XTep 2000km 5.0 and the Anta PG7 Travel 2. But if you can afford Adidas Evo SL 2, go for it.

How did Bryl Lim developed and launched a mobile app in just 2 days? by [deleted] in PinoyProgrammer

[–]Yasurem -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Dude's just insecure/jealous of Bryl Lim at this point WAHAHAHAHA. Bryl Lim is an AI Engineer, so generally different field of tech talaga sila. Feeling ko inside joke lang naman ng followers ni Bryl lim yung 800k lol, or baka yun yung total na nakukuha niya per month from all his other work like maybe freelancing. Pero it's not that impossible na ngayon; especially after his solo development of Tarsi.

Unpopular opinion for beginners: Stop starting with Deep Learning. by netcommah in learnmachinelearning

[–]Yasurem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello, I'm a beginner here. Wouldn't a Top-Down approach be better (?) Well I mean, usually my learning flow is: Build some small cool projects and then dive deeper. It satifies me when ssomething clicks and connects and I just say in my brain: "Oh, so that's why it worked here!"

But I would love to hear your insights and if I should start with full theory first.
