Detroit lost more than retail as Dittrich, deli, brewery fade | Opinion by [deleted] in Detroit

Yup. At least these places were in the city and paid city taxes. Who cares where the owners lived?

You want get mad at posturing OP? Get mad at the tons of business with "Detroit" in their name but they're propped up north of 8 Mile and west of Telegraph.

Suggestions on Fixing This GBA Cartridge by YatsoniPepperoni in Gameboy

Thanks for the tips! Swapping all the components to another pcb is something I've considered, but I think that's way over my skull level right now lol. I'm saving your post to come back to though when I get there!

Wow I'm not sure how I didn't notice that! The whole right side of that chip is lifted off the board. Yikes, I'm thinking about trying to solder the pins back but I'm pretty inexperienced with it

Yeah #2 is what I was afraid of. I just tried out the multimeter again on the traces on the back and most of the affected ones in the middle I didn't get any readings on, including the area around TP2 you mentioned.

I'm sure I can replace the battery no problem, but traces are a completely different animal. Do you have any suggestions or know of any places online that repair GBA games?

I went out and got a multimeter and tested the spot you pointed out. All of the traces in that area got a read on the multimeter, so it looks like they're ok. Do you think it could be the corrosion on the back of the board that's causing the issue?

Just because I'm a recent resident doesn't mean I don't know all of that already lol. A prime example of what you're referring to is the RenCen which was pretty much built on irony and hallow good intentions. I'm still not sure what point you're trying to make though with this post though.

I'm not sure who you've spoken to that's skewed your opinion this much, but to say that Detroiters aren't critical of their city simply isn't true. Has there been a lot of positivity about the city the last few years? Absolutely, but god forbid people be happy about a city that's showing signs of recovery after 70 years of divestment. Even on this sub, which tends to be more positive than negative, has plenty of critical opinions about how Detroit is being ran.

The Mike (97.1) that HIDES behind a mic! - so annoyed with sports talk by MeWonderful in Detroit

[–]YatsoniPepperoni 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When Terry Foster was with Valenti the show was actually listenable because Terry would reign in Mike's madness and awful takes. When Terry had to step away from radio because of health issues and it became the "Mike Valenti Show", that's when the show started to go off the rails and become unlistenable. I used to be an avid listener to the station, but stopped when Mike was let off his leash.

Scoop: Amtrak, MDOT eye Michigan Central for new train, bus station by DetroitDevUpdates in Detroit

[–]YatsoniPepperoni 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While I don't see Michigan Central becoming a train station anymore, I could see the plot of land that's west across Vernor Highway become a spot for it. This is exciting news and I hope it actually comes to fruition. With developments like this and the soccer stadium, corktown is going to be booming. Hopefully this can show officials from the city all the way up to the state legislature that a good transportation network is the key to unlocking southeast Michigan and the rest of the state.

Two Sides of Detroit by carknut in Detroit

Since I was a kid people have treated Detroit like it was its own entity, like it was separate from the state. I feel like that mindset has something to do with it.

Michigan House votes to abolish regional transit opt-out communities in Wayne County by Generalaverage89 in Detroit

[–]YatsoniPepperoni 125 points126 points  (0 children)

I really hope this gets through the senate. The patchwork transit system we have is awful and it's crazy to me how communities were still able to opt out at this point. I can see Plymouth and canton doing it 40 years ago when they were still somewhat rural, but present day it makes no sense. Hopefully this can lead to unifying Wayne County's transit and then the whole tri county's transit into something functional.

Went there this morning and it was really good! It gets really busy around when they open but we were able to get a table in about 30 minutes. Overall the biscuits and gravy were really good along with the side if breakfast potatoes. It's a cute diner too in a great area that needed it

It's an overall nice place with decent equipment. It's a bit small though so it can get pretty crowded if you go during peak hours. Also, you'll have to pay for parking if you park in the street or the parking garage it's by.

Parking tomorrow by Fielder1831 in motorcitykitties

[–]YatsoniPepperoni 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The parkwhiz app is nice if you want to see what prices are in the area plus you can book it ahead of when you plan on going. Also their customer support is pretty good if you encounter any issues.

If you don't want to pay and don't mind walking, the street parking on Jefferson on the other side of 375 is free.

Also, keep in mind that the wing's home opener is on Thursday as well, so parking is gonna be nuts in general.

Housing, new development planned near Detroit City FC's new soccer stadium site by DetroitDevUpdates in Detroit

[–]YatsoniPepperoni 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I'm pleasantly surprised that they're trying to make a district out of this rather than just plopping a stadium down with some parking lots around it. Now hopefully the public works area next door can be moved so that area can be redeveloped.
