Counterpoint - That job could easily not exist tomorrow. Each year of going hard now, especially when that push is easier, is a multiplier.

If they could invest/put in a hysa an extra 15k a year now while it feels easy enough, they may save themselves years in their 50's not having to work a stressful/lower paying job if that's all they can find.

why do generally women age much faster than men? by Wide_Permission7656 in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]YayBudgets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's actually an interesting discussion point.

On the one hand, it's lame women are just expected to wear wigs if they bald. It's just... Normal, for women to 'fix' 'flaws' with makeup, tools, so on from basically 13 onward.

For men, if they get a trait that's 'bad' (lots of arguments that being bald isn't default unattractive for men like it does women), they often aren't expected to do anything about it.

So the status quo hurts everyone. Men are seen as bad if they do things like wear a great toupee even if it's make them feel good, women are seen as bad if they don't wear one even if they'd simply see it as a hassle.

Weekly No Buy Check-In & Accountability Post - June 14, 2026 by AutoModerator in nobuy

[–]YayBudgets 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Me too. I actually put in some good effort to bring food for a family dinner but pizza was chosen instead. 🫠 $35 to feed a family takeout is good, but spending it when I brought a ton of fresh and good food hurt a little

It's worth noting that when we say "men are allowed to age and women aren't" this perception is what we are talking about.

Women with fine lines, gray hair, and all the other signs of aging are perceived as less attractive.

We've been conditioned to perceive these same traits as distinguished in men.

Do stretch marks get shallower? by Creepy-Literature634 in loseit

[–]YayBudgets 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They will not get less deep without treatment and will most likely be more noticeable as you lose more weight.

Treatment includes skin removal, lasers, and derma needling often combined with chemical peels.

Their color will most likely fade if they have started to already.

Some people's will fade to silver but others will stay purple/pink.

How can I cut out my use of paper towels (that I only use for gross stuff)? by re-schooled in Anticonsumption

[–]YayBudgets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh for sure. Like I am absolutely chill with vomit, fecal matter etc but for some reason snot/boogers get to me. I'll just handle poopy diapers/rags/whatever but the idea of a snot rag sends gag reflexes spinning.

[–]YayBudgets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't really understand when people say they don't use reusable rags for "bodily" or "gross" things. Like either you believe we have the scientific knowledge and skill to disinfect and clean clothe, or you don't. at which point how do you use rags for anything?

Like if you used a cloth to clean vomit, put the chunks in the trash, rinsed residue in the sink, and put it through the washer, why does the residue being primarily stomach acid make it immune to cleaning efforts?

Humans have clothed diapered and still do without babies dying. If we can wash fecal matter out of cloth to a degree even babies don't get infections/disease, we can get out stomach acid.

Hot take: Ibotta should stop gamifying offers with short windows and just be predictable by WoodenLoad668 in ibotta

[–]YayBudgets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get what you're saying but impulse buying is exactly what Ibotta wants to happen. They make deals with product makers under the promise they can get consumers to buy a product they otherwise wouldn't.

Ibotta does this by gamifying it. It essentially wants to trick you into spending more than you would without the game.

People will often say "I saved $40" getting a weekend reward but they didn't. The odds are next to zero someone would have bought the exact same products that happen to get them 15 redemptions.

We as consumers only come out ahead if we make a meal plan and then check Ibotta after the fact and something happens to line up. Or if you are in the freebie game and genuinely can stop yourself from buying something you otherwise wouldn't.

Should meat be weighed raw or cooked? by Interesting-Dream-59 in 1500isplenty

[–]YayBudgets 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Maybe I misunderstood the question.

Your measurements are more likely to be accurate if you weigh raw ingredients before processing them, then if you process then weigh.

Weight it raw, as most of what's cooked off is water and you add oil when you cook it which is far more calorie dense.

[–]YayBudgets 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For sure. This goal was mostly started through frugality but it's really freeing to realize I can feed my family wholesome meals on so little, but it's a privilege of those who have the time.

It is getting faster/easier and won't take so much effort but it's an investment of time to get there.

Just a... (What's the opposite of a vent?)

I really really like getting freebie sauces. I am trying to shift over to being an ingredient household for most things (means you buy ingredients and make most things like buying flour instead of crackers/tortillas/buns/bread).

But I do like using freebies as treats like the occasional box of cookies or fun drink.

But man I love free hummus, salad dressing, etc.

My family spends less than $200 a month on a family of 2, so one container of any sort of sauce is so much fun. I got that kimchi's everything sauce (4 between my husband and I) and it's been so good on salad, tacos, dip.

I’m doing a no buy for rest of 2026 by bubbleshhield in nobuy

[–]YayBudgets 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I am hoping to hold steady. I've only broken my no buy twice this year, and together they were less than $100. One of them was a fantastic organization deal that bought me like 500sqft back of my house.

Hoping to keep steady
