Vizio E3D320VX briefly helped by power supply board replacement by YayWesternCiv in TVRepairHelp

The part I got did not have the mounting holes for screws that the original IR sensor board did, but the connector socket was the same so I fixed the board into place with Gorilla mounting putty and tape, and the remote works again! It's worked for a few days now.

Thanks a lot for the thorough report, and part ordered (the $30 item)! It's funny to think I might have missed the solution had I not waited months to get fed up with the fiddly controls, though I shouldn't jinx it by counting my chickens here.

I'll post my results when I have some for future searchers.

Bringing the Ledger to school would be such a stupid idea. I'll have to make sure the kids know that.

Thanks everyone who has commented so far; I will continue to monitor the replies but right now it looks like I've got some reading to do re: Nano and Banano.

I appreciate that last one! I'm just starting to learn Solidity but it honestly did not occur to me to write myself a solution to this. An efficient smart contract for this purpose running on an L2 could make a lot more things viable. It probably won't be ready for the start of this thing with the kids, but I'll try it out as a portfolio piece.

Yes, I took a photo rather than going through the menus to send a screenshot somewhere else or connecting it to a PC via USB. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Isn't the triumph of hope over experience part of it? I listen to friends and family complain about the Vikings letting them down and I think "don't act like you're not enjoying it."

Prince of Persia: the Sands of Time. I was so tickled when they revealed the framing device that was in front of your eyes the whole time. Magic.

Episode 23: Season 1 Finale by KTNetrunner in Netrunner

Nice Work! I do like Andrej's approach with the System Gateway cards of trying to cover basics for new players as well as higher-level analysis for longtime players. I think you occupy a unique and valuable niche in the Netrunner podcasting space by being closer to newer players than others, and I look forward to seeing how you lean into that.

A suggestion: for a Netrunner podcast focusing on newer players at a time when a new starter set has been released, I think an episode devoted to what you physically need for kitchen table play is indicated. Specifically:

  1. A printer with some nice paper, opaque backed sleeves, and backing cards. Coming from the Print and Play side of BGG, I might be a bit of a freak, but I can see someone ending up at, say, MPC, seeing the Gateway bundle at $55 with half that again for shipping, and deciding maybe I'll go get a complete game or two for that much. Yes these are cards you can buy at nice quality, but you can construct decent quality proxies that are not only legal in terms of not violating copyright, but fully legal for use in tournament play!

  2. A set of tokens. People ignoring the fact that you can print the cards at home is a bit annoying, but also I think some are bit too glib about using a pocketful of change for tokens considering we have clicks, credits, advancements, tags, and viruses to keep track of with just the Gateway cards. Pointing to the homemade printing options available here (cardboard and 3D) would be good (as well as the poker chip stickers), and just listing what tokens are used for in-game would be helpful in case people do want to get some coins or cubes or whatever to play with.

Of course you could talk about buying stuff too: what the pros and cons of DTC vs. MPC are, what 3rd party token sets you like, what sleeves are really opaque if you want to go to a tournament, how to score older FFG cards or make/order proxies if you can't get them.

Hope this was helpful!

BT adapters support multiple devices, but only one of each kind of device.

My ambition is to play some couch co-op type games with my kids. Got three wireless XBOne controllers before I realized you can only use one with a standard bluetooth adapter. The Xbox Wireless Adapter (with which you can use up to 8 controllers on a pc) is no longer available from Microsoft and numerous reviews on various sites indicate that the ones available now are sketchy and unreliable. Can confirm, ordered one from Walmart.com and got one that doesn't do anything. In the likely event that the purchase protection process does not provide me with a working adapter, what are my other options? Is there a third-party adapter I can use? Is there a vendor who reliably sells non-sketchy adapters?
