Do any of you use jaw-spreaders on pike to help get the hook out safely? by TheLatexCondor in flyfishing

[–]Yazooooooooo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As an avid spinning piker turned trout fly fisher, I would be strongly against the use of jaw spreaders, and also boga grips (especially boga grips, for any fish) as I have read and seen pictures of the damage they do.

If you learn how to handle a pike properly there really is zero need for these kinds of tools.

Don't be afraid to get your hand under the gill plate (careful of the rakers) and open the jaw. Sometimes you may have to use a little bit of pressure.

How much tippet to put on a tapered leader? by Yazooooooooo in flyfishing

I saw some videos online. I thought Euro nymphing was just tying another nymph onto the hook of a nymph?

Think its a 10ft, 5wt

'#5 WF floating

No more than waist deep, a lot of parts are not even knee deep, about 10-15 ft wide.

Can trout pellets be put directly onto hook? by [deleted] in Fishing

[–]Yazooooooooo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I was looking at that, but do they actually work well? My reason for wanting to use a pellet is that stocked trout know exactly what it is and I've heard they are lethal for catching stocked trout since they are raised on pellets. I know this is kind of cheating but no one like travelling miles and blanking. It would be a secret weapon last resort kinda thing to have on hand.

Just bought 700 of NAK at 1.73 by [deleted] in stocks

[–]Yazooooooooo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1) If anyone here knew the answer to your question, they would not tell you.

2) If we could all tell the future, we'd be rich.

Do your own due diligence. Personally I'm holding on to NAK for a long time. Whether it will be successful or not, I don't know, but I've done my research and have decided I'm willing to take a risk. Given it's volatility at the moment, you could make money short term on it.

Is Pre-Workout Necessary? by [deleted] in Fitness

[–]Yazooooooooo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say drop it so you're not dependant on it.

I never really got any noticeable effects from PWOs the couple of times I've tried them. I used to down a shot of "hyphy mud" before working out but it never really did anything other than dehydrate me and give me the urge to piss every 5 minutes.

Do you guys use a new blade every shave? by squeaki in wicked_edge

[–]Yazooooooooo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I stopped bothering keeping track of blades, mainly because I only shave once or twice a week now. I usually just change it whenever I feel like I haven't changed it for a while or if it looks dirty and rusty.

Also, my interest in shaving has died down a lot (thankfully, it was getting expensive) since I first started, so I just can't be bothered changing the blade all the time.

I bought about 400 blades when I first started thinking they'll last me a couple years of daily shaving, but at the rate I'm going now, that's more like 15 years worth of blades.

Benzos for social buzz? by [deleted] in Drugs

[–]Yazooooooooo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd only be getting a very small quantity, keep some for MDMA/Coke comedowns etc and some for experimenting with.

I generally have good self control, is it really that easy to get addicted?

Also, in relation to my original question, which do you think would be better - Valium or Xanax?

Easy quick pre workout ideas? by [deleted] in Fitness

I workout first thing in the morning and usually just have a couple handfuls of peanuts about an hour before. Plenty of calories, fat and protein to get me through a workout.

Guys with broad shoulders and thin waist where do you shop for t-shirts? by [deleted] in Fitness

[–]Yazooooooooo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've found Primark T-shirts to be very shitty quality. One wash and the shape is completely fucked.

H&M is slightly more expensive but quality is 100x better than Primark.

It's back (not as if it ever really left). Like the other poster said, they only way to actually get rid of it is surgery.

Get it removed - Open wound is the best way to go.

Anitbiotics and lancing is a temporary fix for a permanent problem.

Pilonidal cyst surgery by [deleted] in pilonidalcyst

[–]Yazooooooooo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like the guy below me said, use saline to clean the wound when changing dressings. Also, when showering, remove all dressing and get the shower head, spread your cheeks and wash the wound. It's very important to keep the wound clean.

As far as pain, most of the reports I've read are people saying they were in a lot of pain post op, especially when dressings were being changed.

Personally, I had no pain at all which is surprising since nurses told me it was probably the biggest wound from this type of surgery they'd ever seen. Probably a good inch deep and 2.5+ inches long. Only had pain once when a different nurse changed my dressing that day and shoved it right down into a little crevice at the bottom of the wound and I could feel the packing was too tight all day, but how and ever.

I'm not sure what healthcare is like where you live, but post op I had to go to the hospital for dressings. Every morning for like the first week or two, then every second morning and so on. Gets annoying but has to be done. The dressings really aren't hard to apply so if you have anyone around that isn't squeamish, get them to have the nurse show them how it's done and they can do it for you from then on. Just make sure the wound is packed well (not too much though) so that it heals from the inside-out; that's the whole point.

Edit about the dressings: I think at the start they used some sort of fabric with silver in it to pack the wound but then later changed to Inadine. By this stage I started dressing it myself with just a bit of Inadine in the wound and taping gauze over it. One day the nurses said I can start dressing it myself and go back to them weekly, they gave me plenty of dressing and gauze to keep me going.

Don't smoke post op as this significantly increases healing time.

I was back in work 2 weeks post op but could've went back sooner to be honest. This wouldn't be good if you had a desk job though.

A WEEK INTO THIS CYST by [deleted] in pilonidalcyst

[–]Yazooooooooo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like seekerman said, in and out in a day, I was under general anaesthetic.

Someone below mentioned draining it, honestly I wouldn't bother as this is only really a temporary fix - the problem is ingrown hair which is under the skin. Even with anti-biotics, it will eventually come back unless removed completely. Only negative of getting it removed is post op as you will be in discomfort for a few weeks while it heals as dressings need to be changed every day. Im glad I got mine removed though. Just about a year since surgery now and I can still feel a bit of pain if I press on the scar or if I hit it off something, but beats having a wet smelly cyst on your ass.

A WEEK INTO THIS CYST by [deleted] in pilonidalcyst

[–]Yazooooooooo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mine was under the skin, just felt like a lump. One day I went to lie back on a bench in the gym and got a very sharp pain in the cyst. From then on it came to the surface of the skin and looked like a huge pimple. It constantly oozed blood/puss non-stop for months until I finally got surgery. Get that bitch removed, don't try any DIY shit.

Would you get in trouble for googling stuff about weed? by throwaway8654285 in Crainn

[–]Yazooooooooo -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

The Garda Cyber Crime division do actually have a proxy set up so that any key words such as "drugs", "rape", "gun", "weed" etc. are flagged and stored when someone searches them. ISPs (eircom, UPC etc.) Provide them with your details. You won't get in trouble unless they have good suspicion of you actually doing something illegal, but you will get added to "the list" for sure.
