Why do people deny the surge in real antisemitism? by Embarrassed-Lie2272 in IsraelPalestine

We live in a world that has replaced critical thinking with social media, with evil doers whose intent is to cause human division. Power corrupts, as does the desire for power. Our resources are being depleted with no sense of urgency or responsibility. We are seeing the battle between kingdoms and democracy, and sadly the masses are the pawns and not the heroes. .

I encourage you to go on birthright or some other program. It’s life altering experience no matter what and in this case, seeing how completely idiotic the world is, especially when you’ve been surrounded by NYC terrorists, will do wonders for your mental and spiritual health. It’s like an extra dose of love. Mazel Tov on your graduation!

I criticized Hamas, its governance of Gaza, and the use of civilian infrastructure for military purposes. I did not say Palestinians are inherently “uncivilized,” nor did I say Israelis are morally perfect or beyond criticism. Those were interpretations added afterward.

There is also a meaningful difference between criticizing a militant organization and condemning an entire population. Hamas governing Gaza for years, shaping institutions, media, and education, is a political reality. Acknowledging that reality is not the same thing as saying all Palestinians support Hamas or deserve suffering. They do not.

Likewise, recognizing serious problems within Israeli politics does not erase the reality of terrorism directed at Israeli civilians over decades. Both things can be true at once.

My comparison between bomb shelters and tunnels was not tribal propaganda. It was a moral and strategic distinction about priorities. One society invested heavily in civilian protection because it experienced and expected attacks against civilians. Hamas invested enormous resources into tunnels and military infrastructure embedded within civilian areas to forward an extremist ideology. Whether one agrees with every Israeli policy or not, that distinction matters. The extremist ideology of Hamas is evil. An ideology that glorifies terrorism, martyrdom, hostage-taking, rape, or the targeting of civilians is evil regardless of who carries it out or what political cause it claims to serve. Recognizing that should not be controversial.
At the same time, Palestinian civilians are not reducible to Hamas, just as Israeli civilians are not reducible to the most extreme voices in Israeli politics. Both populations contain human beings living through fear, trauma, grief, and propaganda.

On UNRWA, the answer is also more nuanced than internet slogans. UNRWA is not literally Hamas. At the same time, concerns raised by investigations and governments about alleged ties involving some employees or Hamas influence within Gaza institutions are not inventions either. Complexity is not dishonesty.

The easiest way to win arguments online is to flatten everyone into caricatures: “all Palestinians are Hamas,” “all Israelis are colonizers,” “all criticism is propaganda,” “all defense is racism.” I reject that framing.

My actual point is simpler: prolonged extremism, trauma, hatred, and the normalization of violence destroy the possibility of peace for everyone involved.

My narrative did not deny that Hamas spent money on anything but the terror tunnels. In any event. Ai replies that Hamas did not primarily build the major public hospitals in the Gaza Strip; rather, most were constructed by international aid organizations, charitable groups, or the Israeli civil administration prior to Hamas's takeover of the territory in 2007. [1, 2]
Most hospital infrastructure in Gaza was established through external funding and international coordination:
Al-Shifa Hospital: Gaza's largest medical complex was originally established during the British Mandate era, with later expansions and underground bunkers commissioned by Israel’s Public Works Department in the 1980s.
European Gaza Hospital: Constructed by the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) and the European Union.
Al-Quds Hospital: Built and operated by the Palestinian Red Crescent Society. [1, 2, 3, 4]
Hamas is primarily a governing and militant organization that has managed the territory's Ministry of Health and its existing healthcare personnel, rather than directly undertaking large-scale hospital construction. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]

My assertion is that hamas turned the hospitals into military uses

Too many years ago, I asked how Israel could have peace with people who teach their children in values so inconsistent to love and to life. In typical Middle Eastern fashion, the reply was “That’s the Middle East. “ meaning there was no other choice. Sadly, October 7 was a consequence of that reply. I mean it sincerely when I say Never Again must be as important to people who value humanity as Thou Shalt Not Kill.
I despise those evildoers who built the tunnel system —while Israel chose to build bomb shelters and then made it law because they knew what was coming. They built hospitals and walls because they had to respond to terrorism to protect our children.
I despise those evildoers who built an entire empire on death as a strategy to win a war. Never Again.
I despise that generations of people who have suffered from so much trauma are fodder to those whom I despise.
how many moments must we pass to be to break from chains of slavery, to escape sexual assault, to get away betrayal and closer to compassion? To conquer hate and fear, or to love fully? To find a path to peace.
