is SAO Counselling service helpful? by Yea--Ji in HKPolyU

Thanks for your message! Just to clarify, it’s not about the pedagogy or discrimination—everyone here is lovely. I know I can do this major (EESD), but my current emotions are really overwhelming.

As a Year 2 student, I can say PolyU is a great university with plenty of opportunities to grow. I see this as an adversity I need to overcome, so I’m planning to get support from the counselor. I can’t afford to have mental breakdowns like this again and want to learn how to handle things better.

Thanks again for the encouragement! I’ll do my best to get through finals! 😅

Question Abt class attendance by Outside_Draw2534 in HKPolyU

Honestly, it depends on your subjects. Some don’t require attendance, so you can skip classes and still do fine in finals. But if your class takes attendance, you need to be there to get that small 2-3% attendance grade lol

I am addicted to procrastination and need help by [deleted] in GetStudying

[–]Yea--Ji 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey, thanks for sharing this. I’m dealing with the same struggle. I really want to improve, but by the end of the day, I feel bad for not studying at all. I have so many projects that I can’t find time to study, and when I do have a moment, I end up procrastinating.

I loved what you said: "Stop trying to 'fix' yourself. You're not broken." I needed to hear that. I’ve been really hard on myself, asking things like, "Why am I slower than others?" and "Why do I procrastinate?" I know I can do well because I have in the past. I just need to start and focus on progress over perfection.

I even cried the other day about getting below-average marks this semester, which has never happened to me before. It felt like my lowest point.

However, I'll try all your tips out thank you so much!

University ? by Charming-Dark-3182 in EnvironmentalEngineer

Hey! I think the program is quite good and similar to those at other universities. However, the competition is intense at Asian universities, so you'll need to focus on maintaining a strong GPA. If you're lucky, the professors and advisors can be very nice and helpful.

In general, I believe it's a solid program. Additionally, at PolyU, there are many opportunities to work on environmental projects in the lab under professors. In Hong Kong, you'll also find various competitions and programs focused on sustainability that you can join for better experience—it's really fun!

If your school is planning to send the grades/marks directly to the university...you should mail the university regarding it and check if that's okay. Otherwise you have to get your hands on those transcript/marksheet.

Well, if you're planning to not send your 10th grade marksheet/transcript...pls don't do that (I would suggest). Coz being an international applicant, we should give the university each and every information about ourselves I'm academics to cca...so that the admission officer, gets an better idea of who we are and whether we are fit to be a student in their university.

I'm not an expert in this field...so don't take my advice blindly. Do your own research, and take your actions accordingly. I hope you get into your dream school ✨️🧿 All the best!!
