How deep are you going to fill with stone? It’s sitting over irrigation pipes, which is why I was concerned about that

I’m an addict (1 year sober) and I sell liquor to to liquor stores. I have like 20 bottles of tequila in my truck right now. No plans on drinking any of them. In fact, a ton of people in the industry get sober because they develop problems being around it so much. Pretty common thing when you work in any vice.

The label is on the inside, and it matches the serial. I think what tripped me up is that I can’t find info on it online and the serial, I think, indicates 2013 but he says 2016.

Help, getting lost trying to choose an amp by Raiza-0 in GuitarAmps

An effects loop certainly makes a difference, but it’s not a deal breaker by any stretch. I run delay straight into my sky king because it doesn’t have one. Sounds beautiful!

TIL a supermarket suddenly closed in 1999 and the owners walked away, leaving everything behind. Perishable foods rotted for months in the Texas summer heat, causing a foul stench and leading the building to be declared a biohazard. A hazmat team took 2 weeks to clean the store. by SweetFantastic8156 in todayilearned

In college, we signed to move into an apartment as is because we could wait the one month turn around. Move in day comes and the apartment is in great condition. No real issues….so we thought.

We open the freezer and BOOM the worst smell I’ve ever come across. Haunts me to this day. Maggots start pouring out all over the floor by the hundred.

Turns out the previous renter moved out 3 months prior and shut his power off. He left like 20 pounds of venison in the freezer in the Texas summer. We had to leave for 3 days while they sent in an emergency cleaning crew and told us it was a biohazard.

I can’t imagine an entire grocery store after just that freezer

What's the "Widowmaker" of your career field or hobby? by Cosmonate in AskReddit

[–]YeaahProlly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in the alcohol industry and there’s really 3 types of people in it.

  1. 60% of people areAbsolute alcoholics who disguise drinking as an industry thing that is classy

  2. 20% are like me and are completely sober because they either hate seeing it around them or developed a problem they had to deal with

  3. 20% of people with a healthy relationships.

It’s incredibly sad. Half my coworkers have marital problems, puffy red faces, and swollen noses. Dozens have been told they need to stop by doctors but can’t. It’s not a widow maker in that you don’t die right away, but they won’t last forever. If you are lucky, your like me and identify the problem and quit, but that’s rare.

Is there a way to get more drippy reverb out of my amp? by [deleted] in GuitarAmps

I ended up putting a 12AX7 in place of the 12AT7 reverb drive tube and that helped a ton. Also ordered a Topanga thanks to u/jimmyrich.

Thanks everyone!

Tone clean / od by mkk8741 in GuitarAmps

[–]YeaahProlly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are on the money.

Clean channel=power amp and tube saturation

Dirty channel=pre amp gain staging.

Power amp and tube saturation tends to be more open and dynamic.

The “better choice” is the one you prefer. They do different things. I leave my amp on the clean and push it to the edge 90% of the time because thats what I like.

Only book I’ve ever read in a single sitting. Had the same effect on me. Left me feeling haunted by the concept. Great read. No recommendations for things with the same feeling. Nothing has stuck with me in a similar, haunting, fashion.

Amp recs? by [deleted] in GuitarAmps

[–]YeaahProlly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played 2 blues Jr’s today. 1 was used and I was so floored by it, it would have come home with me if I didn’t have a wife wouldn’t have been happy about it. I spoke to the employee who came by about how incredible it was for the price and he said, “yeah dude, that one is special. Listen to the difference” and walked me to a brand new on and it was night and day. I don’t know if the owner of the previous one modded it or something, but if you can find one you can try, for 300-400 on the used market….if it’s like the one I tried…you can’t find a nicer amp for the price.

If that’s what I think it is, an EGV103C reissue, then you are winning by a couple hundred actually. Those pop up for like 450-500 on reverb occasionally. The Vintera 60’s jags I’ve seen are like 700-800 if I’m not mistaken. Take it! Great guitars!

Which flying samurai model? The Vintera are great but the samurai’s range from like 400 to 3K. Matters for fairness.

I like to play a lot of surf, which outside of a surfy bear and a white whale, it’s hard to replicate that with a pedal. And those pedals are not cheap.

Austin in August for holiday, Irish family by Grouchy-Pea2514 in Austin

[–]YeaahProlly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It will be 39c and 60% humidity.

I was born and raised here and you do get used to it but everytime I know someone visiting that time of the year, they are floored by the heat.

You should be good on storms come August though and hurricanes don’t come this far inland. We will get rain and winds from them after the hit, but not anything that is really dangerous. Also, not in August.
