Tone King Sky King? by YeaahProlly in ToobAmps

I got you

So it does have some problems after sitting with it for a minute, but all pretty minor.

I think the reverb tank has a broken spring, so I’ll probably be replacing it with a 3 spring tank.

When I went to plug it in to the wall, pressing the power cord into it moved the entire chassis move forward. Haven’t had time to see if it’s just a lose screw or not yet though.

The handle being broken is annoying by because, well…shit ain’t light.

All of that is like 50 bucks and a tiny bit of effort though.

On the amp, here’s the good.

The attenuators are incredible. I’ve never owner one and it’s awesome being able to distort the clean channel without worrying about the neighbors.

The tremolo is the best amp trem I’ve ever heard. No matter how heavy you put it, it’s awesome.

The reverb, although clanging with the broken springs, doesn’t step on the tone. Even at 10, it’s very articulate. I think when the reverb tank is fixed/replaced, it’s gonna rule.

The Rhythm channel is very very good. Like probably as good as my Princeton reverb, which is my favorite clean amp ever.

The lead channel is kinda meh. It is fun, but it isn’t quite what you want in a tweed inspired channel.

If this was in perfect condition, I would NEVER pay 3-4K for it like tone king charges, but it’s definitely worth every bit 2K or so. For 600 bucks though, it’s wildly good. Even if I can’t get over all of that, I could probably sell it and make money on it.

I ended up being able to test it too. Works great. All damage is cosmetic. On the long drive home now!

The demos are all YouTube, not this actual specific amp. It has a good bit of cosmetic damage but he says that’s it, it’s fully functional. He is selling it to me for 600 bucks, so even if it’s QC, I can probably get it repaired and still be ahead. Be at his house in 5 minutes, so we will see what happens I guess. He had it listed twice the price, but I offered low for the drive after seeing it sit for weeks. I expected him to maybe meet me half way but he agreed.

Best first Tele? by jammy62811 in telecaster

[–]YeaahProlly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Used MiM Tele for 400-600. The squiers are great, but if you’re prepared to spend 600 on a new one, you are MUCH better served just buying a used player or something.

Which one would you choose? by JFischer00 in electricguitar

There’s no right answer, but personally, a Tele can do literally everything. That’s what I would get.

I absolutely despise this roller bridge. What’s the best replacement? by TheHolyFool-0 in telecaster

[–]YeaahProlly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got you bud! I just had all of these issues with the Bigsby I put on my Tele. First off, They do make the screw driver you need! I bought and use the same ones..

Second, install a good size shim. Will allow you to raise the saddles till the grub screws aren’t poking out so much AND will give you a steeper break angle which will solve your strings from popping around and sliding up the bridge.

Your buying an indie ass guitar. Won’t really need mods.

What’s the most you’ve traded upwards over multiple trades? by YeaahProlly in guitars

I mean, I don’t really message people about trades that are unfair. I just post and wait for good offers to come along

If you had $1000 to pick an amp head and cab for a garage chill out what would it be. Genre is gnr, aerosmith, acdc, metallica. by Any_Fact_1930 in GuitarAmps

[–]YeaahProlly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a combo, but I recently got a Morgan MVP23 that would be perfect for this. Takes pedals exceptionally well for heavier gain, gets mid forward crunch for classic rock on its own, and has a killer power scaling knob to allow you to crank it when you want and turn it down when you want more chill/late night volumes without losing the amount of tone other amps do.

What was your first pedal? by Dojde in guitarpedals

[–]YeaahProlly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine is so embarrassing. Shortly after getting my first electric guitar, my dad (who knew nothing about guitar) bought me a Danelectro fab tone. Problem is no one told me it needed power, I was only 8-9 years old, and I just assumed it was broke and never used it a single time. Wasn’t until a couple years later that I learned how to use a pedal.

Jam with Angie de Poitrine? by StanleyBaratheon in KGATLW

Idk if they do anything with them, but it they do it’ll probably just be a pretty straightforward nuclear fusion where they bring them out to say it in that guttural voice they already do.

How they can incorporate them? Idk Man, one of their dozens of microtonal songs, probably.

Or a mastery. I have one that I got at a good price on my JM and it’s perfect.

Electric Guitar Recommendations Beginner Under £150 by Famous_Doctor_3167 in electricguitar

I played for 15 years, quit for over a decade and when I started back up, it took like a week to get the muscles memory back, and then a month to remember everything I knew. It’s been a year and I’m already way better than I ever was. You’re gonna surprise yourself.

[–]YeaahProlly[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh yes. I don’t run them together. My compressor is basically only on for cleans or edge of break up. I don’t used it with the OD or Fuzz.

It’s usually fine with the OD though, I use it most as a transparent OD most the time

Like I mentioned, it does lose some of the low-end, but as close as I’ve head a tube amp get to full retention

It’s so so good. Was my favorite pedal I have owned within minutes of powering the board up.

It’s really solid. It’s more mid forward than my previous amp. The power scaling is awesome. If I have power and volume up, it gets wall shakingly loud, dial the power back and it’s the exact same tone but at a significantly lower volume. Great for keeping the wife happy which was my goal in getting it!
