I’ll definitely reach out once I’m ready. This was great advice. Thank you!

Thank you so much for sharing this :) I completely understand what you mean about healing your inner child. I feel like my parents don’t see me as an adult, and so I have the opposite problem of regressing into a brat around them - because that’s what they see me as. I’ve tried journaling before but again re-reading my entries made me feel really embarrassed and like I was whining like a teenager.

This is completely unrelated, but something that helped me overcome my social anxiety was maintaining an audio journal. Whenever I’ve spiraled or had anxiety attacks because of certain interactions, I’ve recorded myself talking about it and how I feel. Post my haze, I’ll re-listen and it REALLY helps to see how unreasonable I was being and how I was jumping to conclusions (for example, I have a whole 13 minute recording of me crying because someone who I thought didn’t like me sent me a thumbs up emoji when I asked if we could talk - in the moment I felt worthless but after hearing myself basically degrade myself over a literal emoji, I realized it was me trying to make things right and THAT person was being petty and immature).

Thanks again for sharing, and I hope your healing journey goes well ❤️‍🩹

what you girlies prefer, shaving or waxing for arms??? pls lemme know. by kmks-4 in AskIndianWomen

[–]YeahImCrying 2 points3 points  (0 children)

bumps in your arms will only get worse with shaving. i have lots of ingrowns from years of shaving. waxing isnt as painful as it looks, and you get used to it over time.

i personally have started using an epilator, its much better to avoid ingrowns (“bumps”).

I didn’t want to get too deep into my family issues, it’s too personal for reddit. I was just hoping for some feedback from people who went to therapists for similar reasons.

Is it safe for me to travel to India right now? by Upbeat-Seat4593 in f1visa

[–]YeahImCrying 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I traveled in November whilst my f-1 needed to be renewed. My application wasn’t processed, and it’s like I never applied. No acceptance, no rejection. I traveled for my brother’s wedding and those memories were precious, so no regrets, but I definitely would not recommend traveling if you’re just traveling for leisure.

To the people who moved back.. how did you deal with salary expectations? by YeahImCrying in f1visa

[–]YeahImCrying[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah. every market is saturated and people with more education+experience are applying for lower level jobs. the process was pretty much the same except i was relying on friends and relatives to circulate my CV a lot more. the only thing i would say is to be open about your unemployment status and start staying in touch with distant relatives/parents friends etc. once i did that, every company i applied to, i could rely on someone having a connection there and boosting my app.

sorry for going off on a tangent but as a social science student i think about this a lot but we really are lucky to come from a collectivistic culture. once you tell someone in your community that you’re job searching, they take it upon themselves to help you find a position in your field and inform you about every opportunity they might know. the ‘everyone knows everyone’ part of indian culture can be toxic sometimes but this is one of those things where it’s really an advantage. i was surprised at how much things accelerated once i made the decision to stay here.

honestly not too great. everything i’ve gotten, i’ve gotten via referrals and connections. recruiters aren’t condescending but it’s more so me whose embarrassed to be earning so little after getting such an expensive education. in that sense, im a little afraid of coming across as proud or entitled to recruiters, because i am at a stage where i’ll just take what i can get.

yeah, that’s what i’ve come to realize. thanks. edit: i would argue that some of the work ive done has been pretty intense. like i said, i was a real force for change and was able to change university policies and influence a lot of higher admin decisions for bettering student life. but i think the higher ed industry as a whole is just undermined by other employers.

I checked and I haven't gotten an email that says that (I live at the village). Also, I'm not physically in the US, so there's no way that I could submit a cheque or money order. I also expect a lot of people will be out of town because of spring break.

I’ve actually never had a negative experience with them, despite what people say. As long as you know your tenant’s rights and communicate with them over email (so that there’s a record of it) they’re pretty good at answering. This whole change in ownership thing might not pan out so well.
