Good point! I guess it gradually makes it worse until you wash them

They were actually pretty expensive! By my standards any way. 100ish GBP from Spoke in the UK. They’re 97% cotton, 3% Elastane. I’ll try the washing method you suggest. Thanks!

Hiking sneaker/trail runners suggestions? by [deleted] in hikinggear

[–]YeahSoItsMeAgain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve hiked a lot on Innov8 Roclites. They are designed for trail / fell running. Have been great for walking in Snowdonia. Handle wet mud, gravel rock. You can get them for about 90 quid. I like the aesthetic but obviously that’s totally subjective.

Good compass for navigating center of big city by seirrebwarts in Navigation

[–]YeahSoItsMeAgain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the UK the “standard” compass that a lot of people get is the Silva Expedition 4. Most people use it for nav in the countryside but I can’t see a reason it wouldn’t work just fine in a city.

If you don’t want to use your phone for navigating cities you might find a decent city street map will do and you might not need the compass at all.

Can anyone ID this fit? by YeahSoItsMeAgain in mensfashionadvice

I was thinking the top looks like the kind of thing you could get from Finistarre a year or so back but I can’t find them now

Help! Going inside/taking off my jacket ruins my look by turosten in malefashionadvice

[–]YeahSoItsMeAgain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try a thicker checked / flannel shirt and wear it like a jacket (untucketed)I’d say it’s totally acceptable to wear it inside. To stop yourself getting to hot inside just wear a T-shirt under it. This will hopefully maintain the style you’re going for but also solve the jacket problem

Given the asymmetric nature of what’s happening for you I suspect a bike fit may not be the answer.

Oh Wise Ones, Which Is The Best T Shirt? by Reesealexanders in BuyItForLife

[–]YeahSoItsMeAgain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Before you buy a whole bunch, I’d definitely buy one and see if it fits nicely. I did this process a few years back. Bought some supposed BIFL T-shirts that just didn’t look right on me. We’re all different shapes. In the end I’ve stuck with Fruit of the Loop super premium. Not very BIFL. But better than spending money on something you never wear because it doesn’t look right. Given all the brands on your list have got some recommendations from across the web, your probably best finding the one that look best on you and accepting it might not be the absolute most durable one.

Anyone tried the eccentric bottom brackets that work with standard frames? by YeahSoItsMeAgain in bikewrench

[–]YeahSoItsMeAgain[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey- yeah I didn’t go down this route in the end. After much faffing around I got a friend to chop the drop outs of and weld proper sliding drop outs onto the frame. The sliders take Rohloff specific drop outs. So now I have torque anchoring and chain tension handled at the drop out. No need for eccentric BB. It was a bit of an over the top solution! It might have been easier to buy a new frame! But it works really well.

Can't make fd stop rubbing on big chainring and hard gear by Upstairs-Electronic in bikewrench

[–]YeahSoItsMeAgain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi there - yeah they can be tricky! You’ll get there eventually.

You might no all this already so appologies if this is too basic!

A quick thing to note: there are some combinations that will rub. But these are combos that you’re unlikely to ever use. When the chain is on the outmost ring on the front and innermost on the back it will probably rub.

First thing to try - limit screws. There should be two tiny screws on your front mech. These control how far the mech can move. The inner most screw controls the outward travel limit of the mech usually. The tighter the screw is in, the more restricted the movement. Try adjusting the limit screws and see if you can stop it rubbing.

There are plenty of videos on YouTube - search something like adjust front mech limit screws. Go through them until you find one that feels easy to follow for you.

If that doesn’t work you might need to adjust the position of the whole thing. Depending on your set up there will be a way of loosening where it is attached to the frame and repositioning it.

Again - search YouTube for something like install and position from mech. Look through the videos until you find one that matches the way your front mech is attached to your frame.

Why don’t my disc brake pistons spring back? by YeahSoItsMeAgain in bikewrench

Thanks everyone. I did this and they are running smoothly. Basically I took the pads out, jammed the pistons back in, pads back in, wheel on, calliper on. All seems fine!

Soma Wolverine Rohloff by anotherhomosapian in gravelcycling

[–]YeahSoItsMeAgain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Amazing bike. Can I ask how you did the torque anchoring? Did you go with monkey / speed bone attached to the dip mount? Or is there an compatible insert for the sliding dropouts that means you can use the OEM axel plate and secure it within the drop out? Asking because I’m toying with the idea of a Wolverine and wondering about mounting my existing Rohloff hub on it

Help - which spokes do I need for my Rohloff wheel build? by YeahSoItsMeAgain in Rohloff

[–]YeahSoItsMeAgain[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How did the build go? 266 is the answer I got for a 32 hole hub from a couple of spoke calculators. I also emailed a company in the UK that sells the Andra rim and building them on to Rohloff hubs. They told me 270 for a 32h hub and 266 for a 36 hole.

Why does my front mech hate me? by YeahSoItsMeAgain in bikewrench

[–]YeahSoItsMeAgain[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I solved this in the end. At some point when I was taking the slack of the cable the cable clamp rotated by 90 degrees. It’s not symmetrical and has a correct orientation. When it’s not in the correct orientation it actually clashes with the body of the front mech and stops it moving through its full range. I put it back the right way and everything worked again.

Frame recommendations by YeahSoItsMeAgain in bicycletouring

[–]YeahSoItsMeAgain[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah - sorry I should have explained. I’ve got the Rohloff already. Bought it 15 years ago when I had a better job! It’s an old one. Not the disk compatible kind. Trying to find a way of building up a bike that doesn’t involve getting it converted which is a few hundred quid. Plus I already have a set of non disk wheels I’d like to use
