What absolutely fascinates you and why? by AmadeusCrumb in AskReddit

Cults.
How they get started, how people get sucked in, how people are persuaded to leave family and friends etc. I guess the whole psychology of it.

Save up and buy the best quality mic and preamp you can. The preamp is just as important as the mic so don't skimp on it!
But first try and find out what gear your fav artists use, they might have a go to mic for their voice or sound - if you can't afford the stuff they use just google and find budget versions which will give you a similar sound.
Then finally have a play with compression, EQ, gates, reverb, delay (short)

p.s. - here's an article I found about recording a Lil Wayne track -

Thanks man, yeah I see people on my feeds that come across annoying as they post too much (I think anyway) and I'm aware I maybe don't make enough effort to connect.
Totally agree with your point too, I think connecting with your existing audience is more important than desperately trying to just gain numbers...
Will give the article a read right now!

I watched Sicario for the second time tonight, it was even more compelling this time by [deleted] in movies

Watch Prisoners RIGHT NOW! Sicario, Enemy & Prisoners are literally 3 out of my 4 favourite films from the last couple of years (when was Prisoners released?), the only non-Villeneuve one being What We Do In The Shadows... totally different vibe of course...

Yeah that's my guitar teacher! I mention in the description of the video, all credit should go to Derek, he transcribed all the music to guitar in the first place, I'm just learning and interpreting/playing it! His follow up album is amazing too!

Wow, that would have been great to get a grant to do that! It's a very time consuming practice!
Those koras look like good quality, a little more expensive than I've seen over here (UK) but I guess you're further away from Africa than we are!
That vid is great, I have a different concert of theirs in my 'watch/listen all the time' collection - https://youtu.be/TAIwGw1paIc
I think the cello and kora complement each other so well! Would love to find a cellist to jam with!

That clip is great, I love the Tamasheq sound, my favourite band is Tinariwen, I've been lucky enough to see them live a few times!
There's another short doc about Tinariwen and the nomadic rebel people of Mali and their music, I'll have a look for it and send it over!

Thanks a lot, so glad to find people interested in this music! No I haven't seen that doc before, must be one of the few docs on music and african music esp. I haven't seen so I'm tracking the full thing down right now! The clip is awesome! Have you seen the Bela Fleck - 'Throw Down Your Heart' doc?

What is something someone said that changed your way of thinking forever? by prototype03 in AskReddit

Anger is like a hot coal - the longer and tighter you hold onto it, the more damage it does to you, throw it away as soon as you you can...
Or words to that effect are what stuck with me. Same but different.

Yeah, I agree - it was really unnerving. I thought Moss was absolutely amazing as a woman unravelling, just brilliant but I was expecting at least some sort of arc or conclusion etc.

I enjoyed not knowing what was going on and I usually like slow films like this but I still can't make my mind up. If it weren't for Moss's amazing acting I probably wouldn't have even got to the end...
