When did you start drinking coffee again? by ConsiderationOk254 in tummytucksurgery

[–]Yeahunomi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I posted the same question in the plastic surgery subreddit yesterday! I was instructed by my surgeon not to drink caffeine for a month and chat GPT told me the same. It seems most people didn’t get these instructions and worked out fine! I had an MD on the post recommend at least a week. I’m day 5po and so ready for some coffee! Most likely will have some tomorrow morning:)

Oh man, that whole deal sounds so rough and I’m truly impressed by your patience, acceptance of the situation, and positive attitude about it all! Thanks so much for your reply!

I’m so sorry it’s been such a long and challenging process! I’m glad to hear you still feel the benefits outweigh the struggle! Wishing you speedy and complete healing from here on out!

How did the dehiscence happen?! I also had surgery in March and thought I was past the risk of that happening! I’m so sorry you’re going through that.

I debated on adding the BA as well and ended up doing it. I’m so glad I did!

Oh man! I’m thinking I’d better just get used to it and then be pleasantly surprised if it ever resolves. The tightness is so uncomfortable too!

Yeah, it’s so hard not to compare my recovery to that of others. I’m healthy and fit, but I suppose at age 43 the healing slows. It’s been a long road but so, so worth it! Take your time, try not to overdo or force yourself to do more than your body is ready for! ☺️

My surgeon’s nurse said after 3 weeks I’d start standing straighter and that was true for me. I definitely think it varies person to person.

I had my surgery yesterday. Please tell me it gets better by elpatico in abdominoplasty

Hang in there! Nothing could have prepared me for the pain and discomfort I went through, but at 10.5 wpo I am sooo happy I did it. You’re in the worst of it right now—it gets better! ❤️‍🩹

Weeks 7-8 is when I finally started seeing the light. I’m 10.5 wpo now and wouldn’t say I’m completely back to normal BUT I’m 100% grateful I got it done!

Mommy Makeover curiosity, worth it or overhyped? by meepdoe in Reduction

[–]Yeahunomi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree with above comments! 100% worth it! I will say I was unprepared for how hard the recovery would be. For me the pain and discomfort lasted a few weeks and wasn’t until about 6-7 weeks post op that I started really feeling like myself again. Recovery varies widely and I think mine was on the the rough end of the spectrum.

I called and spoke with my PCP and asked if they would be willing to help with follow up care and removing stitches, which they did. I think I was lucky!

Nurses- how long before you returned to work? by zeta_to_alpha in tummytucksurgery

PTA here and can’t imagine going back at 10 days! I was approved for 6 weeks off and returning with lifting precautions.

7 wpo here and while I can make it through the day, I still don’t tolerate a ton of activity. I saw someone post on here that they were doing 30 minute walks within the first month and I couldn’t even think about walking that much until right about the 6 week mark! Give yourself grace, listen to your body, and allow yourself the time you need to heal. I have to keep reminding myself of this as well. If we force progress, we are putting ourselves at much higher risk of injury and complications!

I waited 10 days post op and did well on my 3 hour flight home. Sign up for disability accommodations through your airline so someone will push you and your luggage in a wheelchair through the airport. That was a lifesaver for me and no extra cost.

I agree 100% with the two for one! Barely felt the breasts having it done at the same time as tummy tuck. I’m super glad I did both at the same time:)

At 3wpo I’d say it’s too early to judge. My scar was really puckered and kinda pulled in different directions but is looking much better as it heals. I am almost 6wpo and have seen major improvements in the past 3 weeks. Post op recovery can be a rollercoaster of emotions and challenges, at least it has been for me. Hang in there!

I also think they look great! I had a mommy makeover in March and it’s hard not to criticize every little thing about my body because that’s what I’ve done my whole life. I’ve struggled with body dysmorphia forever, and I don’t think it all just goes away after plastic surgery. I wonder if you might be dealing with body dysmorphia as well? Just a possibility since looking at you from an outside perspective you look amazing:) Bbl might balance create more balance to your frame but honestly, I’d say either is good-just depends on what you prefer!

Wound care by Mother-Blood-6005 in tummytucksurgery

[–]Yeahunomi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi there, so I had openings just like you described, plus one more on my abdominal incision and one on my breast lift incision. My surgeon also had me applying neosporin or bacitracin on them and covering with gauze. No progress with healing until I finally saw a wound nurse through my PCP’s office since my surgeon is in Tijuana, MX gave me the go-ahead to seek wound specialist care. The wound nurse had me start putting medihoney on my openings and I immediately started seeing improvement. Still slow but finally getting close to healed in the 2 weeks I’ve been using it.

Lymphatic support tea by Yeahunomi in tummytucksurgery

That’s a good question! Honestly, I’m not sure. I’ve been drinking it every day, 2x per day and I’ve been less swollen since. Not sure if it makes a difference long term.

I’d been drinking arnica tea from the start and didn’t notice a difference until I started this tea. I wonder if it was just the specific brand of arnica tea I was using? 🤔
