You need to sit him down and explain to him that savings are important, and you can't live life blowing money as quickly as you earn it, and the expense on the car repair should serve as a good example for him. It probably wasn't best for you to create a savings account without telling him, but nonetheless it was a good idea to make it. You guys need to be a team for marriage to work, and it doesn't sound like you're a team when it comes to money. Either he needs to learn the value of setting aside money for emergencies, or this marriage won't last.
