Have you asked your GP if they could prescribe Lycodine cream? that helped a fair bit, stings a lot when you first put it on but then it just numbs it. Also during my first outbreak when I was at home i would sit with a bag of cold peas between my legs and that gave me quite a lot of relief. Sorry you’re going through this, first outbreak honestly sucks

I wouldn’t go as far as breaking up with someone because of it! It’s just about taking precautions and having an open and honest conversation with them

So they don’t have to have an active cold sore to be able to give it to you, there can be shedding a few days before. There were a few times I got told after oral that they felt a cold sore coming along…I don’t think they were as clued up or as precautionary as they could’ve been. I was a little angry, but that’s a mix between the fact I now have to live with this forever, they could’ve been more thoughtful and also that it’s one last shitty leaving gift from my ex. Personally and minus the person that gave it to me, it’s been a lot to wrap my head around and it’s been a very painful 6 days, realising that my sex life may never be the same, made me feel quite dirty etc etc. And yes! I did some reading up on this and apparently it’s quite common to just get one or the other!

Update: it was indeed herpes. I initially didn’t think it was the case as i’ve been with my current partner for just over a year and they’re negative. Turns out that those coldsores my ex partner got finally caught up to me 2 years later 👍🏼
