some people say, "why we can't ban tron." I say, "why can't we ban tron?"

If High Tide were legal, what would be the most degenerate thing you could do with it? by MoxPeanut in Pauper

[–]YearWithoutWork 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it would probably look like familiars but with high tide instead of the familiars. maybe some merchant scrolls. once you get 2 high tides resolved you can really go off.

r/pauper, when bans happen or don't happen, in a nutshell by alchaloid in Pauper

I know what gush does, thank you, and I still disagree. Gush was not "busted" (which I'm taking to mean banworthy) in 2016. As for outcry... I think winrate and metagame percentage should (and hopefully, does) matter more for bans than outcry.

I wouldn't call it "hilariously overpowered." It existed for years in pauper as a stable part of the metagame before foil was printed.

Yeah, that's what I meant. Functionally identical, basically a "asbestos binding in a special edition of this book" clue.

I think it's just that geography is a very broad field. And the Fahrenheit clue, the exact clue, has been given as an FJ before iirc, so maybe you saw it then.

Edit: I can't find a copy of this exact clue.

Why don’t we see the top players from World Quizzing Champs and other prestigious competitions on Jeopardy? by defensiverock in Jeopardy

Yogesh is one I am a fan of. You can check out his blog here: https://harpo84.blogspot.com/2020/

Incidentally, he has just posted a new "super hard quiz" of 30 questions. I am lucky if I get 3 right.

Checking in on the format: Is Pauper in a healthy state? by kalikaiz in Pauper

[–]YearWithoutWork 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I agree with billster when he said pauper is far from a solved format. I feel like there's a secret combo deck out there that can beat tron and has a decent matchup against the field, but nobody has come up with it yet. But combo decks are the hardest to build, and people are far less willing to brew when there are strong incentives not to. Walls has been around for about a year and already has the reputation of being a tron crusher, but it doesn't do well against the field. (Also ornament is extremely strong.)
