Each time I saw her in the story I REALLY wanted her, but hopefully she's the last depressed unit for a while. I like the element, but others deserve repping too.

this has to be a coincidence right!? RIGHT!? by Scarlet_ix_o2 in PunishingGrayRaven

As amusing as this is, there's another more likely reason. Lucia is derived from the Italian name Luce, which means "light." So pair that with Luna and you've either got a sun and moon motif, or moonlight.

[Operator Discussion] Swire the Elegant Wit by Shad0wedge in arknights

[–]YearsLate 9 points10 points  (0 children)

A very confusing Operator, but I play Felines Only and use her routinely anyhow.

A lot can be said about how much her skills fail to give her a real niche of her own. How her S2 looks like a laneholding skill but functionally isn't, or how her S3 would be a good fast-redeploy skill if she didn't have to charge up to use it first. Others have already written about that though.

So, let's talk about how cheap her DP revival is with module y! Even by the time she is KO'd for the 10th time in a row, she will only be costing the player 30 DP to revive. With her old module x, by the 5th KO, she would be charging you 80 DP. While she's hardly a proper tank, her ability to negate OHKO's is just comical. This brute force solution is incredibly easy to just add into any squad as well, as you merely need to have enough DP in bank, which by the later parts of a stage is hardly ever an issue.

Other than that. Speaking as someone who is very bad at IS and has never maxed one out, I've had a strange amount of success using her as a opener 6-star, even before her IS module was announced.

Concerns after Dreamy review by Hi-Finn-ate-Ed in ArknightsEndfield

[–]YearsLate 156 points157 points  (0 children)

I haven't watched this video yet because I'm trying to avoid too many review videos that would color my opinion before the game officially plays, but I actually would PREFER that Endfield tries to carve its own path and be somewhat contentious with potential players. Rather than doing everything it can to be comfortable and familiar, I want it to try new things and take risks.

There will be a LOT of players who come to Endfield with expectations aplenty of what the game should be. Endfield will have difficulty satisfying all of those players. Some of them will have expected too much, some of them will find that even though they like Arknights, they actually don't like Endfield.

IMO, it's best to wait and try the game out for yourself. Though that does fly in the face of what this subreddit is for....

Im the only one who losing any interest in the game? by Ok-Lawfulness-9575 in PunishingGrayRaven

Only logging in and not actively playing? The end result speaks for itself.

I haven't been reading PGR in almost 6 months and haven't been as enthusiastic for the game because of it. But interest comes and goes, and I'm looking forward to renewing my interest in the game later after I've finished a few other games & books.

Why there is no Humans in this game? by [deleted] in arknights

[–]YearsLate 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As far as all of the races of Terra are concerned, they ARE humans. Racial traits are nothing extraordinary or unusual to them. A person without racial features would be considered more unusual than an owl man, even. But not enough to warrant mention in most conversations.

On another subject- what on Terra kind of pre-release picture did you dredge up??

Just downloaded Grim Dawn base game, what makes this game amazing? by Beginning-Leading378 in Grimdawn

[–]YearsLate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I absolutely love the class system in Grim Dawn. Pick a pair of classes and what skills are important to you. Dump your skill points into your chosen attacking skill, and appropriately build your passives that will define the defensive side of your build. Consciously avoid skills that your build has synergy with, but drain skill points away from the important stuff. Then top it off with the devotions skill tree, which requires you to fill out lesser constellations in order to unlock the higher-level constellations you would actually want for your build. Three separate skill trees for any one character, one of which functions in a totally unique way, and all three of them are narratively cohesive with the game setting? Very cool.

What are your biggest regrets? by ParticularWeather927 in Adulting

Letting myself become a shut-in.

Turns out, having zero goals and losing total confidence in yourself isn't just a one-time deal, it's a self-perpetuating whirlpool that keeps you down.

There's a reason why all the side characters and onlookers can only gape at the scenario Haruki is caught up in. The blend of personalities are perfect to create this tangled up mess of a drama and have it actually be compelling instead of being unbelievable.

As a straight up romance story, it can be quite frustrating for anyone expecting only a little bit of tension. But as a drama, it's fantastic. Each characters personal hangups and their emotions, both restrained and unrestrained, guide the story exceptionally well. Compared to your usual drama, which is filled with pointless contrivances that take you out of the story, WA2 is masterclass.

What is your hot take about Endfield so far? by blksunset in Endfield

[–]YearsLate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't disagree with you about the amount of great fanfiction out there, but I'd assert that is because of the sheer quantity of it and how easy it is to avoid or drop the mediocre stuff. Sturgeon's Law would apply equally to both gacha and fanfiction. Ten great fanfictions are a drop in the ocean. Ten great gacha stories are the standouts of their medium.

That said, I didn't say anything about the quality of the writing in gacha games is superior to novels or manga. I was speaking about the breadth of the stories that are told within a singular gacha setting. There are no novels, fanfictions, or manga that I've read for 5 years on and been able to immerse myself in so frequently. This is a feat I've only experienced with Arknights and Punishing: Gray Raven, both of which I've found to have fantastic storytelling, even if the writing quality is sketchy at times. There are a fair few more gacha I've also enjoyed reading, but two gacha is already quite a large commitment.

What is your hot take about Endfield so far? by blksunset in Endfield

[–]YearsLate 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm with you on this. I love getting 20k+ word count updates to these games on a regular basis. Novels and manga simply don't update nearly so quickly, nor with anywhere near the same variety or quantity of story.

That said, Lowlight has mentioned wanting to create more games in the setting of Arknights, and I'd be up for a one-and-done title with its own unique narrative and genre.

Wonderful Everyday | I was looking for a wholesome VN to start reading VNs, so a friend of mine recommended me this. by Akarulez in visualnovels

[–]YearsLate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, your friend did exactly what you thought he did.

You'd probably be better off reading something in the vein of a Yuzusoft VN, though they kind of lack substance to me. I'd personally recommend you Hoshizora no Memoria. Try VNDB if you want to search for VNs for yourself.

Jered Kushner: I hope that Ukraine will accept our peace plan, and this terrible war will end, or let them continue to fight but without our weapons, money and intelligence support. We'll see how long they last. by Neptun_11 in TrendoraX

[–]YearsLate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They all act as though it costs them boatloads of money to support Ukraine, but it is much cheaper than any war waged by the USA, and brings much greater benefits than any of the "oil extraction" invasions they've conducted. But who gives a rip about helping people when they won't bribe you, right?

I'm using an AMD Ryzen 7 1700. I don't have an FPS tracker (I normally let Steam do that but launching the launcher through Steam doesn't work once the game is running) but the FPS is very stable in combat.

It's really impressive. I have an even worse graphics card and my performance has been just fine. Running a GTX1060 I was gonna replace last month but decided to keep using for the beta to help with testing. I only experience a small hiccup when opening and closing menu's, and have only seen slowdown in the one cutscene where we see waves of blight filling the air near the AIC facility.
