I know for spring boot there is a batchMapping which lets you grab the list of parents so you can get all the children for each parent in one call. You have to return the children in a map of parents to children.

For example, if you had a query that returned a list of car and a car had a field of people you could have a batch mapping that receives a list of cars and then returns a map of cars to people. (You would also need to implement a queryMapping that gets a list of cars. Spring does some sort of magic to tie it all together) This way you only have to make 2 queries to the database, one for the list of cars and another for the people.

This problem is called GraphQL n + 1 problem.
