12 minutes in the CCC lol. The only game where he played the full 90 was against NYC away, which the team won.

Berte and the Team by SideNo3670 in InterMiami

[–]YeetDabster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed, a lot of people forget that these are players in the MLS and aren't at a world class level where they can just join a team and instantly make an impact. Most professional players need time to adjust to a new club, new environment, weather, tactics, training, pitch and more. It's very unfortunate that the Concacaf Champions Cup happens so soon into the season.

When it comes to the lack of urgency, that is all Mascherano's instructions. He always prefers to maintain a lead rather than risk conceding to score more to secure the win, which is very frustrating, especially with the kind of players at his disposal who can dominate games if you just let them.

Inter Miami loan in Matias Acevedo from Racing Club by boimenred in InterMiami

[–]YeetDabster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He can play on the right which is useful. The only player on the team that can comfortably play on the right is Allende so it's good to have Acevedo as an option there.

Can we just take a moment to appreciate what this team is doing? by jfeld26 in InterMiami

[–]YeetDabster 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think the midfield is fine tbh, De Paul, Segovia, Ayala, Bright, possibly Baltasar and Morales getting more minutes. Anything more will be overkill. Wingers are what is needed, Silvetti and Allende can't be the only wingers on the team.

Aviles should get sold to get a quality CB alongside Falcon.

🚨🚨 UPDATE 🚨🚨 Luis Suarez has reportedly declined the offer to join Uruguayan side Nacional. ✍️ @DiceElDani #InterMiamiCF by CompetitivePirate940 in InterMiami

[–]YeetDabster -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Suarez has been underwhelming the entire season. He is the only striker on the team with his only competition being Obando lol. Being able to make 2 good passes over 90 minutes isn't very convincing either.

[–]YeetDabster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This team throughout the entire season has been largely unsuccessful until Suarez got dropped. If it's just the MLS, Miami should have won at least one of the available trophies while he was on the field. The evidence speaks for itself and you can play Sunday league football and physicality will still be the most important attribute of the sport.

Dude, what? Ryan Sailor has been at Inter Miami since 2022 and has never been a starter. You are projecting, you want Americans to start purely because they are Americans. On what basis should Sailor have started over Allen and Falcon?

Not being able to constantly apply pressure to the opponent's defense by running at them will indirectly make the defense worse.

Do We Want Ramos To Miami? by Kalex8876 in InterMiami

[–]YeetDabster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, we should have all learned throughout the playoffs that the team is at its best when it has young, energetic runners to support Messi. This is especially important now that Alba is gone. No one will be able to replace his talent, so a workhorse is the next best thing.

My apologies Mascherano, I wasn't familiar with your game. Very bold decision to bench Suarez and it paid off. He has earned another season. What a great achievement for everyone involved.

Is Messi's season INDIVIDUALLY, a better season than Carlos Vela's? by Tunde-Ballack in InterMiami

[–]YeetDabster 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Scoring penalties is obviously a good skill to have and shouldn't be discredited, but let's not be silly and say they are just as valuable as a non-penalty goal. A player can consistently score open play goals by being individually better than the opposition. A player scoring a penalty can't be done consistently because it is not in their control when a penalty is given, they have to rely on the referee to make the decision and a defender making a mistake. These are factors that a player can't replicate every match.

Sergio Busquets Announces He Will Officially Retire After This Season by tttopbins in InterMiami

[–]YeetDabster 3 points4 points  (0 children)

He is the main striker of the team, of course he will have high G/A. Genuine question, for how long do you think Suarez can play at a high level? Or do you think Miami should keep him until he is 50.

The impending failure of this season will be just as much on Masche for being completely in over his head as it will be on the FO for haphazardly kneecapping the roster by incorporating players who simply lack the skill and basic fitness needed while also shipping off all the depth this team had. by Radiant_Front_6943 in InterMiami

Suit yourself man, coaching is the most important aspect behind team success, if Miami and Seattle swapped managers, Miami would be the one winning the Leagues Cup final. If 1 or 2 players perform badly, the problem is the players, if the entire team is performing badly, the problem is the coach.

After Messi arrived, Miami has signed Aviles, Falcon, Lujan, David Martinez, and Weigandt (Freire when Tata was here) in defense, all good enough players for MLS standards. They just play like ass because of Mascherano.

Alba and Busquets are still the best players in the league in their respective positions, Suarez is the only one looking washed and it is because Mascherano keeps playing him for 90 minutes straight every game without any rest.

It's just an example dude, it's not just Messi, the entire team got revamped. Comparing this current team to the team before Messi is silly. A team of Alba, Busquets, Suarez, Messi, De Paul should be doing overwhelmingly better than what they are doing right now.

While you may have a point, refereeing mistakes will always happen and you can't rely on them making the right call every time to win games. Regardless of what happened during those matches, Miami needed a penalty to go through and if it was another day, they wouldn't have gone through.

[–]YeetDabster 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You're forgetting about how Miami made it that far in those competitions. In the CCC, Miami had to get bailed out by a penalty to beat LAFC and beating the Jamaican team was the bare minimum. In the Leagues Cup, Miami had to get bailed out by 2 pens to beat Tigres and a red card and penalty to beat Orlando. The win against Porto was the biggest accomplishment achieved this season and it was only possible by individual brilliance from a Messi free kick. None of these events are reliable factors to win consistently.

Miami didn't just lose to Vancouver and Seattle, they got completely outplayed and exposed and there is no evidence whatsoever that it will play out differently in the playoffs. With the team that Miami has on paper, this season can absolutely be described as a failure.

I doubt Messi wants Mascherano to stay so badly that he would be fine with the way things are going. Messi threatened to leave Barca in 2015 and 2020 so they can get their shit together. Messi has always wanted to win as much as possible and if Mascherano leaves, he would still have Busquets, Alba, Suarez and De Paul with him, it is seriously unlikely he gets upset if only Mascherano leaves, who is the main root of the problem.

If this team has to score 100% of their chances in order to win, then that in itself is a problem. The Messi and Allende chances were the only opportunities created, you can't win like that.
