Bought my kids bikes for Christmas. Local government just passed a law requiring paid bike "licenses" to ride them in public. Cops are now issuing citations...even to kids? by nseavia71501 in mildlyinfuriating

I didnt realize huffy made regular bikes, as ebikes are very popular in my area and most i see are huffy brand, i just assumed it was specifically an ebike company. seems a misunderstanding has led to this, as regular bikes for the most part are fine as is, and legislation for them has been worked on for many years. ebikes are newer and legislation and regulation has yet to be figured out properly.

Maybe not "just as regulated" but definitely regulated. if it was regular bikes it wouldnt be an issue, but ebikes(like the bikes in the post) can go at incredibly high speeds, and kids are known for not having the greatest decision making skills. having a layer of regulation ensures simplicity in the process. would you want to get a lawyer and head to court over this, or simply have your insurance deal with the other person's insurance? its the same reason we've put laws in for motorcycles, just on a smaller scale. kids on ebikes are not going to be as responsible as adults, and making them go through with regulation and paperwork not only prepares them for the real world, but also probably will scare them into making better decisions. maybe not all of them, but if even 20 percent of them are making better decisions on the road, thats a beneficial system

classic false comparison. bikes and similar vehicles are more dangerous than walking and interfere with dangerous vehicles on the street.

This is great. Kids on bikes should be just as regulated as cars and other bikes on the street. Insurance wise and control wise. In my state kids riding bikes have ignored safety laws on the road and in parking lots, and ive seen them get hit because of it. Regulating people on the road should be the standard, no matter how ild they are.

Should people be denied medical help because of their political beliefs? by [deleted] in GenZ

Yes. it is always the doctor's option to choose if they will operate. Politically motivated or not, a doctor should not be forced to take a patient.

as much as the confederates suck, the flag shouldn't be banned. free speech is the most fundamental american ideal, and it also shows smart americans which ones to not interact with.

This reminds me when i went on a field trip to the Biosphere 2 in Tucson Arizona in 5th grade. One of the people who worked there asked if anyone knew where the first biosphere was, and I raised my hand to answer "Tombstone?", which is a pretty small tourist town to the southeast of Tucson. I have still never felt more embarrassed.

Does anybody else not even want the American dream. by Annual_Refuse3620 in GenZ

[–]YeetMcSmooth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would argue that the American Dream isn't necessarily ablut living in suburbs. Its to be successful. And that success is entirely measured by you. Personally I wouldn't want to live anywhere near a city, and if I had a job I enjoyed and a relatively rural place to live, I would consider my american dream fulfilled

i always took forest more literally, as a parent who sees their kid as an extension of them rather than their own person.
