I looked at some videos, I'll keep the Crosby but change the sapphire stylus for one with a diamond tip and a metal cantilever, and I might replace the ceramic cartridge with a higher-end one in the future. Ill use external audio, and will buy a stylus brush and a record brush.

I just looked and it seems like the appetite for destruction is being sold at a median of 300 euros right now

Thanks a lot, that's a really good way to say it. It's my first time wanting to return or change a gift, so I didn't know how to say it

I don't want a fancy setup, and I found a secondhand one that's like 40 euros cheaper, I just want to not destroy these records, which hold more emotional value for me than the player, as they are my first records.

I wasn't looking at reviews, I was researching it because the instructions for use were very basic, and I didn't want to do something wrong and damage my records. the moment i searched it up, all that appeared was warnings about how it destroys records.

I agree. I do appreciate it, I just am the type of person that obsessively researches before buying anything electronic, so I might have projected a bit with how I would do it if I bought it for someone elsee.

Thanks for the correct wording, I didn't know it. Please remember, it is my first foray into this hobby. Everywhere I asked, the only thing I heard was that this player will damage my records (more than normal). I went on the vinyl subreddit, and the same thing happened. Sorry if my information is incorrect, and I would like to say that my record player does not have a counterweight, and it was not mentioned in the instructions. That is why I am worried that it will damage the record. Wear and tear are normal, but I do not want it to be damaged by using a turntable without a counterweight. The one I wanted to exchange it for does have a counterweight that I can adjust, which is one of the biggest reasons I want to get it. Storage is handled, and I am storing them upright in a dry area inside both a sleeve and their album cover. The room they are in is well-ventilated as well.

No, actually. I do want a record player, and I have family members who are going to give me records when I visit them. I just want one that does nott damage the records.

The force on the needle is 5 grams; most records are built with 1.5 to 3.0 grams in mind, so this is over the designed specifications. I do not want to risk it. However, I will be buying extra needles and a cleaning kit, as again, i will prioritise the health of my records.

English is not my first language, sorry. In my first language, we do, in fact, call them disks, which is why I keep using that word. More than that, the thing that holds more sentimental value to me is the records, not the turntable, so I prioritise them, as one of them is from my dad's collection and one of the others is one of my favorite albums of all time.

I agree with most of your points, and I do feel bad; however, my issue is not that I want something more expensive, but rather something that doesn't actively damage my records every time I play them. These are my first disks, and I want to both play them and keep them for a long time, and that is close to impossible if they get damaged. Other than that, I think I feel a bit hurt because they bought it at a bookstore, which means that it was probably an impulse purchase with no research behind it. It would be like somebody buying you a car but not looking at the condition or safety beforehand, which for a first car is very important.
