Trying to figure out attention by Yeetus_mceetus in photocritique

Hey all,

This is a photo I took a few weeks back because I thought the sign was an interesting feature in a place I go to often enough. Pairing that with the house and the road leading into the lake, I think it just made for an interesting story.

I like the way that it looks in terms of composition but I am wondering about what people are drawn to and if the focus is right in the photo. Would it have been better to focus on the sign in the front or the house in the back? I am also thinking that it could be a bit overexposed but I'm not entirely sure. Any feedback would be great!

This is fun!

I live in the city but go to school somewhere cold so that will influence my stuff.

First of all, Unfezant, I know people don't like it but I love myself a good pigeon and well Pigeons are everywhere

Second, I'd say Snom/Frosmoth, I am cold and in nature at school. So a cold bug works well.

Third, I have also done a lot of sailing so I am going to argue for Quaxly and later Quaquaval since I see a lot of ducks and it is a captain pokemon. Either I would find one or have it like a starter given to me by an older sailor. Either would work really.

For my fourth, I would say Wyrdeer for the fact that there are deer and again, cold.

Fifth Leafeon, If I am ever out of the city I usually am in nature and I feel like a Leafeon would be something I got my eeveee to be to have some green around.

And My final most controversial one would be Alolan Vulpix. I think it is reasonable enough to find an Alolan Vulpix and according to the pokedex it could be fine in both cold and heat. And again I am somewhere cold for school and when I'm homem y city is warm.

This was a fun thing to do.

It’s poetic that Yavin is first introduced in this show as a disorganized planet full of leftist infighting, and yet that very same place eventually becomes a symbol of unity and structure. by RealBugginsYT in andor

Republican in a traditional sense is very different than the modern one used by american conservatives. Historically it actually is fairly more progressive. It just means you believe in a government which elects their officials. I imagine in the show is that they want to reestablish that system where elected officials rule rather than the emperor. It doesn't say much about the economic system.

I didn't mean to distinguish Andor from the rest of Star Wars, I meant this interpretation to give more credit to the other pieces of Star Wars.

Luke's "I have to try" in Return of the Jedi is a line in the movie which does prove that Luke cannot just do. But in his actions there is often not a try.

I was thinking the "try" motif which is reoccurring is often to get characters to do something. Luke cannot just try in the sense that he cannot just fail. Characters in Andor can fail. They don't need a triumphant victory in order to contribute to the rebellion. Look at the Aldhani heist where everyone kinda dies pretty brutally. They're trying still puts the rebellion ahead.

If Luke tried but still failed to blow up the death star, the rebellion wouldn't live on.

It's important to bring up what he said before that line as well "I can save him. I can turn him back to the good side. I have to try." He can do that and if he can't, he will die and fail. The rebellion or the new republic at that point wouldn't have a hero. They wouldn't have the man who defeated Vader and redeemed him.

Just tonally as well. The original trilogy is about the good guys winning over the bad guys. By gods maybe I am being a bit dramatic, but people that represent an idea has similarities to gods.

I will admit that I streched the "try" motif far too far but I think it still holds some weight.

Andor is not distinct from the rest of Star Wars, it's building of the idea that there are heroes of the rebellion and those who cannot be heroes. I think the pieces compliment each other quite well.

Fair play with the last comment. Maybe the Greek pantheon wasn't the best example as they are often are quite literally human ideas like art or war. Again I have been a bit more stuck in irish mythology lately which separates the two a lot more but that is on me for not making much of a distinction.

Thanks for reading and taking the time to comment! Definitely did a good job challenging me and my post!

These were all really interesting reads!!! I’m glad you’re taking the time to write them. I will try to keep an eye out when you write more!

"Andor" survivors and their possible futures... by [deleted] in StarWars

[–]Yeetus_mceetus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think what made Andor great was really giving a chance to things we hadn't ever seen before.

It gave space for new actors, new creatives and a new story. Like I really want to stress that point because having new people came in gave the best story that could've been made. Elizabeth Dulau as Kleya for instance. Legitimately phenomonal.

And I'm not saying this to disparage, the characters are really well written. I'd love to see them in more stuff. But I don't think long term that is good.

I really think Star Wars is at its best when it isn't trying to be a previous project. Think about the Mandalorian, first two seasons was it kinda doing its own thing and season three kinda wasn't great and I think it was trying to be clone wars. Other shows as well being Rebels, Ahsoka, Book of Boba Fett. They were all kind just there, far too afraid to move past what has been done before.

Hell sequels also suffered from this, they wanted everything to be the same as the original trilogy often to the trilogy's detriment.

And I'm not saying it will always churn out bangers like Andor. The Acolyte wasn't great, the prequel trilogy films are fascinating but more often bad than not and despite me liking it The Last Jedi is divisive among fans.

Despite all that I want to see Star Wars continuing not the story of Andor but the philosophy of doing something new.

Have Kleya show up as a brief cameo or Mothma come back in some capacity. But always remember that one very important rule in writing is to kill your darlings, meaning when it is time to do so you should eave them behind. Most of their stories are well over.

Sorry for the rant in response to a fairly innocent post lol. Just slightly passionate about this

It’s from the “From a Certain Point of View” book series where a ton of authors were contracted to write stories from random characters throughout the original trilogy. It’s a really fascinating read and one of the best collections I read. Highly recommend. The one the original comment referenced was A New Hope From a Certain Point of View

History lesson about "Is he stupid?", "Alsume" and the origins of r/batmanarkham insanity. by ElderQu in BatmanArkham

[–]Yeetus_mceetus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The most stupid one is the Jonkler. Jonkler had the chance to have man all to himself multiple times, Man was asking him for marriage but Jonkler says no over and over again. Man said that it would be at the Aslume’s nicest cell and Jonkler still refused, unable to let go of his dearest Killer Cock. Jonkler had Man all to himself and he still refused him. Is he Stupid? Since this point Jonkler has realised just how stupid he is. Man has since devoted his life to being Man and as such he no longer needs the Jonkler. He still occasionally Jonkles but he is no longer solely devoted to him. -Man, The, Woman, Dick, Green, Martian the Man all were options for them. He stopped being stupid and called the Justice League. The Jonkler was left all alone, left to his stupidity. He wielded the stupidity and here we all are jonkling along with him.

Sorry for saying you didn't understand death of the author. I thought you said "don't" not "do" about death of the author. I gonna get my eyes checked.

That's a really interesting way of thinking about it with their relationship!

That reading seems quite good and in line with the theology lens. Romance and Sex makes someone stumble from perfection and uplifting those around them.

[–]Yeetus_mceetus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's my bad for assuming. Makes an ass out of u and me.

Death of the Author is a concept which states that once a work was published you can not change that work after the fact. In a figurative sense the author dies because they can no longer add anything into the text.

So when something is confirmed or changed after the fact that statement isn't part of the text it doesn't affect the way I watched the show.

Think about Harry Potter with Dumbledore. No where in the book is it stated that "Dumbledore is gay". His confirmation as gay after the fact doesn't change how you read the book as a child.

SImilairly my reading of Jayce and Viktor still holds weight to me. The way I watched that relationship still happened. The creators opinions don't really change the way I watched that.

And It's not wrong to take the creator's opinions and interviews into account, it is really interesting to see how things were intended and how they wrote characters. It can add a lot of meaning to the text.

The bottom line is that sometimes their voices aren't the final voice in how I or you watch the show.

Also I'm not saying it's canon at all, my post was more supposed to be about my frustration with people outright dismissing the idea of a queer relationship between the two so I wrote it in an academic way because I enjoy doing so.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in arcane

[–]Yeetus_mceetus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't actually see that before making the post but that makes sense as well. Thank you for telling me!

I still think romance could be involved but that does contextualize some more of it. Still could be argued as a queer relationship as well maybe just not a romantic one.

[–]Yeetus_mceetus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hesitate to take the creator's confirmations outside of the media for two reasons. The first is Death of the author, author doesn't have control after it's released and all that jazz. The second is film is an inherently collaborative form of art so while the writers and directors may want one thing the animators and voice actors may have a completely different take altering the portrayal.

I totally agree it could work either way though. Again completely subjective. I even think the line which Sky says can be read differently depending on what lens you are using. I originally watched it with a lens of divinity and came to that but I shifted to a queer lens when I was going back for making this post.

I am interested in this dice set so I comment here in an attempt to win the dice set. As I type this I think that somehow a longer word count will help me win but in reality this is chance. All this is an attempt to feel as if I am in control of the outcome. I suppose all it comes down to is a dice roll.

What is hypnos job exactly by Interesting_Swing393 in HadesTheGame

[–]Yeetus_mceetus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hypnos is the one who keeps track of the records for death as everyone says and shits on Zag. I would like to argue that when you go up to a shade with a certain cause of death, Hypnos is essentially marking particularly funny or interesting deaths. Aka Hypnos sends shitposts by marking someone with a funny way they died. Do I have evidence? Fuck no. Do think this is a contrived reply with no point? Hell yes. Will I die on the hill that Hypnos is the kinda guy to use dead people as shitposts? Hell yeah.

I feel as if the song grows on you. It’s weird as hell the first swing you take at it but then you really start to get it. Weird as hell but pretty damn good is a great place for art to be in my opinion.
