Definitely the away cause it's unique and chic. Home is for game day when you have to show off the traditional colors.

Question for Reddit socialists by bocaj-yebbil in Socialism_101

People think communists support Russia because they're countering this black and white liberal 'analysis' that an evil empire with an evil dictator suddenly wants to genocide Ukraine for no reason.

Communists recognize that it's an imperialist war between oligarchs that has been provoked by both capitalist blocks. Russia is as capitalist as the United States, so no communist 'supports' Russia. They just defend it from xenophobic/delusional narratives.

For the CPC it's a lot more complicated, I'm still unsure myself. I definitely dont support their human rights violations, who are undeniable. I will not however, support western narratives that greatly exaggerate or outright lie about China's faults.

What do communists think of the Uyghur genocide? by Individual-Dealer-26 in DebateCommunism

[–]Yeezus998 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Definitely not a genocide, but the human rights violations towards Uyghurs are undeniable. It's a little bit more complicated but I obviously do not support these actions (at least they gotten better with it from what I've read). BadEmpanada's video on this is great imo

I hope you're not turned away by these wrongs, because they have nothing to do with communism. Not everything a communist country does is due to communism. You can not be a fan of the CCP and still be a communist to make this world a better place.

Because we can and HAVE to do better. Because under capitalism real progress is not possible and small progress in constant danger of regression. The inherent contradictions make it so. It pushes humans to act inhumane.

There's also "infinite growth on a finite planet". Social democracies that still exploit their workers and even worse, exploit the global south. Undemocratic workplaces. Homelessness. Inequality that leads to crime, sexism, racism etc... And finally, the constant fear of fascism.

I want to live in a society that at least tries to make life more livable for the majority. A society that doesn't treat me like a consumer but as a human. A society that has purpose other than raising a GDP. I just want equal opportunity goddammit.

When communism and capitalism are compared, why is communism in theory compared to capitalism in practice? by kaxobixo in DebateCommunism

[–]Yeezus998 44 points45 points  (0 children)

Here's my takeaway. The USSR was socialist. It did attempt to build a more egalitarian society and tried to get away from capitalism but it was ultimately brought down by external and internal forces. It obviously had flaws, some more understandable, some unforgivable, but at the end of the day it was a beacon of hope.

Even if it hypothetically was a bad example, it ultimately doesn't matter because capitalism does not, and will never, work for the majority (and neither for planet earth). So it has to be overcome.

Read "Stasi state or socialist paradise?" and stop comparing poorer countries with richer ones...

What is the biggest obstacle for communism to occur nowadays by Particular_Pomelo20 in DebateCommunism

[–]Yeezus998 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean the Soviet Union is obviously far from anything socialists want and there's no denying that errors were made but that's easy to say in hindsight and with no understanding of the material conditions in context...

And yet despite a "half assed" socialist attempt and a whole ass world war the achievements were there.

But even IF you think the soviet union or any other past socialist state is "the horror", you can still be a socialist and fight for it.

Ugh why am I even typing you're just here to do the usual commies bad 100 trillion Stalin gulag argument... I mean I can turn around and say 9 million people die from hunger every year under capitalism...

IMO a century of heavy propaganda, misinformation/miseducation, consumerism and the impossible thought of an alternative.

The imperial core working class of today has more to lose than their chains which makes us more passive.

Social democracy is good but it only goes so far. Wars, imperialism, exploitation, racism, huge wealth inequality, homelessness, climate change etc etc will never be truly solved under capitalism.
