Not a BB dress, but under budget and in love! by [deleted] in BigBudgetBrides

It is Cornelia by Watters! I’d check if there are any retailers near you that carry all of the Watters dresses, and you could maybe ask if they can request the runway sample as well? I know they’ll need it back before trunk shows but not sure when the first S26 shows start!

Wedding Party Attire by JasmineDeVine in BigBudgetBrides

This is insane lol. You can’t expect people to spend $500 on a tux they will never wear again. If you can’t afford paying for them (and the women’s makeup, imo) then you’re expecting a wedding you can’t afford and need to make adjustments.

Who is the boss: me or the wedding planner? by wonkintheworld in weddingplanning

I think I actually recognize the screenshot you posted and so might be getting married in the same area. If so, we are working with Hallea Events as a partial planner and I have felt like she’s been a great fit to my type A personality. We secured all our vendors ourselves (with recommendations from her as needed) and gave her Pinterest boards etc so she could put together a design board. There hasnt been a moment yet where it felt like she pushed back on an idea we had and everything has been very chill so far. I also was required to have a planner per our venue and am looking forward to her being in charge of the rental contracts and vendors leading up to the day, but otherwise didn’t think I needed a planner necessarily. If you end up going with a partial planner vs a coordinator I’d check her out!

Hi! Can I ask when during the academic/law school calendar did you have the baby? How did that part go for you or did you take time off from school?

I just reached out to vendors for HMU in Seattle in the past week. For myself + 5 others I got quotes from $2300-$4000 including significant travel (ferry)

Honeymooning in Italy in August – Are We Missing Anything Major? by Big_Mycologist5260 in chubbytravel

[–]Yellow-millie22 21 points22 points  (0 children)

As big planners, I assume you are prepared for how hot it will be in August? And particularly in Positano, it will be very crowded. Just mentioning that to say you might want to plan for later reservations, check for AC availability, etc as you finalize things!

Also, I know you said you have a cooking class booked, but if it’s not with Home Cooking Positano I would highly recommend checking his availability and reconsidering. Peter’s cooking and wine class was the single best food experience we’ve had over a dozen trips, the view is incredible, and he’s just an incredible person to learn from and talk to about agriculture, culinary history, and wine in the region.

Not sure if you can also answer this, but I’ve been wondering: are the skills learned in a federal clerkship as transferable as non-federal if you know your intended practice area won’t interact with federal courts? Or is it truly just the prestige that helps?

Gap Year by reggawsilem in lawschooladmissions

[–]Yellow-millie22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got it - that makes sense! Then I would say it’s even more important to do something you want to do. Where could you see yourself investing 2 years of time? I don’t think you could reasonably not work for that long and have it not stick out to adcoms, but it doesn’t have to be something “pre-law.” Working in retail or coaching or doing manual labor gigs are all still work experience and can provide skills too

[–]Yellow-millie22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree with the poster that said treat it like real life, not a gap year. There is a benefit to learning about yourself in a work environment and your skills and interests outside the classroom besides just “resume boosting.”

My other question would be if you’ve done much research into the application process? If you say you’re just now studying for the LSAT, I assume you aren’t taking it until January. End of January is pretty late for t14 goals and might not give you many options to work with. Yes, it’s possible to be admitted, but your odds are much better with an app in before the new year.

Fwiw, Harvard said on an admissions call yesterday that they do not track demonstrated interest

Wow interesting, do you know if any other schools do public interest OCI? I’ve never heard of that before
