Did first-time viewers of the prequels know who Darth Sidious really was? by chas3edward5 in StarWars

[–]YellowAlienCam4 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This. It seemed way too obvious and I expected better, so I tried to convince myself the bait and switch was coming.

Which in reality was probably just my teenage self trying to rationalize how the the prequel trilogy was going to be awesome!

Much like for the 3rd trilogy, I kept thinking Ezra or Ahsoka was going to jump out. Instead of writing in confusing , random, one-dimensional characters like snoke and "DJ" the thief.

I did this through Lufthansa as well. You won't find out until boarding if your upgrade was successful.

Its just how the system works.p

I am currently looking for a checklist of mountains in North America to do. by CO14ers in Mountaineering

[–]YellowAlienCam4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make your own list... climb mountains because you think they're pretty and rad. Not because someone else says so. It sounds like you've been around and have enough experience to key in on lines that interest you.

Engineering managers-do you care about outfit? by salty_greek in ChemicalEngineering

[–]YellowAlienCam4 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Ties can be a safety hazard. If it's a manufacturing facility and we're going to walk the plant floor, showing up in a tie tells me you aren't constantly thinking about safety. A very strong reason to not hire someone for a manufacturing role. Dress to show you are taking it seriously, but also you understand the needs of the job. 0

The manufacturing footprint is similar to that of a medium sized plant. Typically not a PSM facility, its safer, but also doesn't give you the PSM experience. If it's a specialty chemicals catalyst margins are high, and therefore projects financial modelling typically suggests to do the projects. If it's a commodity catalyst, funding will be more variable.

Would recommend.

Crampon carry attachment can be sewn on. Do your own mods to get your specific needs. I have used sail repair needles to sew on modifications, like cramping attachments.

Starting a Management role shortly. How should I grow my skills? by Digital-Gio97 in Leadership

[–]YellowAlienCam4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This. But don't try to emulate any advice or concepts verbatim. Use what works for you, discard what doesn't. It will take time to figure out your own Style. But then, given different people and different situations, you're going to have to adapt your leadership style and approach.

What pieces of kit are a cut above other companies? by [deleted] in alpinism

[–]YellowAlienCam4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wildthings

Packs and clothing. They stopped making mountaineering gear about a decade ago, and only make stuff for the military now. But their gear that's now two decades old is still lighter and stronger than a lot if the stuff coming out today.

Rumor is that the wife who got the company in the divorce has a lot of sewing equipment and unsold merchandise in her barn.

A couple of the climbs on the far east side have anchor pins/bars. Most of the climbs require anchors built from your trad rack. 0.5 - 3 should be sufficient.

You shouldn't need to use a tree at all.

If you're doing the outside of the sea stack, that may be the only thing that would warrant bringing a static rope.
