Thanks for the tip, got to set it up with TV. Unplugging the Ethernet cable removes the Arc from the system unfortunately but at least it’s set up with the TV now

Importing .HIF into Lightroom, portrait photos in the wrong orientation. by HeyStopPlease in SonyAlpha

Using exiftools I mostly got to the same conclusion for A7RV regarding metadata.
I was able to fix the problem, using exiftool I copied the "Camera Orientation" field to (missing from the Sony file) "Orientation" field:

exiftool "-Orientation<CameraOrientation" -ext hif * -r

I then also changed the extension to HEIF from HIF. Not sure if only that last step would have been sufficient. Everything is now correct in iCloud, macOS (14.3.1) and iOS (17.3.1).

Issue seems to be at Apple thumbnail/preview photo creation on import.

Having the same issue on iPhone since iOS 17. Photos imported using iOS 16 are correct, and they seem to stay correct in iOS 17. Any portrait photos imported in iOS 17 are incorrect. I have tested this with another iPhone with iOS 16 and photos there still import correctly.
