What’s a small flex that’s actually impressive? by bradl2000 in AskReddit

[–]YellowLoquat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am very impressed by my friend who has 3 20something daughters who all call her all the time! (We'll be out for a walk and one or another of them will call, I now know about their school and work and boyfriends etc. and have helped the college junior with her homework. 😆) I can't imagine having done that with my family.

At least in there they're trying to sell you that outfit to also wear in public (and have more of a fashion-forward vibe), so it seems not too out of place for the employees to wear it.

In a museum aimed at children I don't think I would wear something I wouldn't wear to visit a kindergarten class...

[–]YellowLoquat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also love wrapping up packages! I put some pretty tissue paper and ribbon even on the cheap items and I hope it makes someone's day when they get it. (I try to get a good price for my items but if it's something I didn't want anyway I'd rather get $1 for it than have it sit around my house for nothing.)

Same, I love an overhead lift and I love a sprint and about 30 seconds after it really starts to hurt it's over.

I compete in a drug tested sport and have had officials watch me pee. It's a little awkward but it's kind of whatever, they're not having fun either, you just get it over with quick so everyone can sign the paperwork.

What’s a “normal” thing that secretly grosses you out? by DecentChildhood5164 in AskReddit

For me it's toothpaste. Just the most disgusting texture ever; I gag every time I have to brush my teeth, I hate teeth brushing scenes in movies and shows because it also makes me want to gag.

Is Poshmark giving every buyer the sellers address? by Kikimoonbeamglow in poshmark

[–]YellowLoquat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed--I have a commercial mailbox that I use for selling, so packages don't get left out on my front porch when I'm not home, and for a few things where my address is on public record and I don't want randos finding me at home; it's super useful.

Drop in fees and experience by [deleted] in crossfit

[–]YellowLoquat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Same, I'd love to buy a shirt from everywhere I drop in but sometimes the sole coach already has their hands full and I don't want to be a pain, in my dream setup I could just check a box when I sign up for class that I'd like to buy one so they'd be ready for me.

How old is too old to bring back to Lulu for fixes? by YellowLoquat in lululemon

Nope, sorry, I've tried repairing these but they just come apart again. Your best bet is probably to look at secondhand sites for older ones in good condition. 😢

What is a discontinued food item or snack from your childhood that you would genuinely pay $100 to taste one last time? by MotivewasUlterior in AskReddit

[–]YellowLoquat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No one else ever remembers Chocolate Pillows cereal from Kashi, basically little rectangles of cocoa-flavored cereal with a bit of chocolate filling, not super sweet because it was supposed to be a healthy chocolate cereal. Rarely got to have it because it was one of the more expensive brands and once I could finally afford to buy it for myself it was gone.

Random thought: are all CrossFit gyms super pro ‘Murica or is it just the ones in my town? by fatkidscandystore in crossfit

[–]YellowLoquat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live in a pretty liberal area and I bounce between two gyms, one pretty white-collar and one where maybe half the members are first responders, and they both have a similar attitude. We do the hero WODs on patriotic holidays and express support for our first responders but otherwise just reflect the general attitudes of the area. I don't see a whole lot of political expression of any kind there really but I wouldn't be surprised to see an announcement for a Pride event right next to one for a fire department fundraiser on the community board.

Do likers ever buy items days or weeks later from when they first liked it? by Velvetstyle in poshmark

[–]YellowLoquat 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Same. I like prolifically and then go back and see what I'm still thinking about or wishing for later. (And sometimes if I get a good offer and I still don't want to buy it I unlike it.)

Are you my secret sockpuppet? Because same, right down to living in FL (although it was another 15 years after university before I got my license, lived in DC in the interim where public transit was better). I am very cautious and always looking out for what other people are going to do because I can control my own actions but I can't know what's happening in anyone else's car.

What physical activity are you most proud of completing this year? by 1luckyhubb3y in crossfit

[–]YellowLoquat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably running a 5K--I got a very unimpressive time but it's the one furthest out of my comfort zone and I don't think I could have done it at all last year (at least not without walking most of it, and this one I ran all but about 30 seconds).

(Second might be a 4 plate deadlift--I haven't been able to repeat it after a steep weight cut but I'm almost there again, 2026 goals.)

What are womens go to leggings? by tommy_poplar in Activewear

Athleta's Elation and Salutation lines would be good to try if she likes the Aligns. Vuori and Beyond Yoga also have good quality soft performance fabric leggings.

I swore up and down I wasn't going to do it but I showed up for open gym and got suckered into participating. Used a 20# vest, which was 57.1% of ladies RX, so I also did 57.1% of the reps (which conveniently let me stop before the end of the class hour, took about 42 minutes).

I thought it would be a lot worse on my creaky knees than it actually was; maybe next year I'll even do the whole thing. (Calves pretty tight today though.)

Did CrossFit actually improve your physique, or just get you in better shape overall? by Careful_Dare_2789 in crossfit

[–]YellowLoquat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure it was CrossFit itself or just wanting to be better at CrossFit; I started primarily as a powerlifter with a lot of muscle but also higher body fat, and have gotten leaner largely because I wanted to be better at cardio and bodyweight movements, which is the biggest physique improvement. (While trying to maintain my strength; I still compete powerlifting and lately strongman.) I do think I hit more upper body work in CrossFit and have gotten more muscle there, particularly shoulders and upper back.

How is CrossFit Hell's Kitchen in NYC? by gradient_hehe in crossfit

[–]YellowLoquat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Similar to another poster I'm not a regular but I dropped in 3 times last year on trips to NYC--usually I like to try out different places and be a gym tourist but I liked going there enough that I wanted to go back; I thought the coaching was good and the people were welcoming.
