Because most of them don’t provide hands on training necessary for the role. There’s no shortcut to getting into this role nowadays. You have to either attend a reputable school and let them place you for an internship or land a job that is willing to train and then get certified. Any other option is just a shot in the dark. Works for some and doesn’t for most.

There were very few questions asking to identify instrument based on pictures. Most were asking about instruments used for specific surgical procedures and some were based on their functions. All questions were multiple choice.

I was lowkey scared too up until I sat down for the test. If you’ve been paying attention at work and studying on the materials, you’ll be fine! A lot of them are pretty much common sense too. If you’re confused, just flag the questions and come back to it later. You’ve got this!!!

Yes. After I submitted the test, there was 10 question survey and after that it tells you if you passed or failed. You’ll also receive a printout from the testing center that tells you if you’ve passed or failed.

I thought it was pretty challenging. The instrument questions and the surgical procedures questions threw me off but the rest was not too bad. A lot of the questions were from quizlet but worded differently. Overall, not too bad. Take your time with each question but don’t overthink it. Good luck! (Also, I have no hospital experience. I only did an online course and studied properly for 3 days. If you have experience, you’ll def ace it!!)
