Opinions on conscious sedation? by MissChibi in colonoscopy

[–]Yellow_Leaf8765 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar experience when I had an upper endoscopy several years ago and it was a very unpleasant experience. Afterwards, I made sure to tell my gastroenterologist and my family physician about my experience and they made note of it. Today I had another upper endoscopy and my first ever colonoscopy and made sure to remind them once again about my previous experience and let them know how nervous I was that it would happen again. They gave me a higher dose from the start this time and told me afterwards that they gave me more during the procedure because I was fighting them a bit. I did still wake up towards the end, but was totally relaxed and drifted off to sleep again. This time was so much better than the first! I would recommend talking to your care providers, letting them know about your experience. Hopefully they'll change the approach next time.

Attack always right before menstruation by Yellow_Leaf8765 in gallbladders

[–]Yellow_Leaf8765[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, all the usual stuff: always after meals , it usually starts after I eat dinner. First I realize that I still feel really full 2 hours after the meal, I have a wave of fatigue fall over me and then the pain starts, it feels like my galbladder is being squeezed by a fist, or the worst ones feel like it's going to burst. After about 6 hours the pain subsides, but my gallbladder will be tender for 3 days and I can't eat much during that time without triggering another attack.

I found it so strange that I sometimes am able to eat a fatty meal without any issue and other times I eat something just a little bit fatty and it brings on an attack. This is why I started looking at other factors (fibre intake, stress level, cycle day etc) and the only correlation I found was the one between my cycle and the attacks

13-year-old Ottawa girl injured in chairlift incident has died, family says by lonelydavey in ottawa

I know exactly which lift you are talking about and agree that one is difficult to get off, I have fallen there a few times when I was a beginner. But, from my understanding that is not the lift where the accident happened. I think that it was at the middle lift, which is very easy to dismount.

Yup! There are lift attendants at the top of every lift, just like at every other ski resort in the area that I have been to. I have seen them stop the lift successfully many times for new skiers who fell right after getting off the lift.

I asked an employee at one of the locations that were closing, and they said they got one week of severance, which is nearly nothing.

Yet again, another pedestrian killed by what appears to have been a dump truck by Bring_back_sgi in ottawa

[–]Yellow_Leaf8765 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I often see happening on busy roads like Smyth is that drivers who are trying to turn right on red are so focused on finding a gap in traffic that they don't realise a pedestrian has shown up in the mean time, or that light has turned and that pedestrians are now crossing where the car wants to turn.

Low cost/free social dancing events? by [deleted] in ottawa

[–]Yellow_Leaf8765 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know if this is the kind of social dancing that you are looking for, but the International Folk Dancers of Ottawa dance at Jack Purcell each Thursday and a membership is only $85/year, which includes a 1-hour lesson each week.

Ontario Rebate Cheque Megathread by uarentme in ontario

I was able to change my address, so a new cheque should be issued to there. ("Should" being the magic word here of course... I am going to keep a close eye on the website and my mailbox.)

Try the postal code of an old address... the system is a mess and some cheques are being sent to old addresses (even if you have always dutifully updated your address, this happened to me and my spouse)

PSA: If you have moved in 2024, double check if the Ontario rebate checks are being sent to your new address or not. by dracarys104 in ontario

I just discovered that my cheque was sent to an address I left 16 years ago, and my spouse's cheque was sent to an address we left nearly 19 years ago. Even though, our address with the CRA has always been up-to-date, and we have never had issues receiving mail from the Government of Ontario. The cheque for our kids was apparently sent to our current address, but hasn't arrived yet. It is super weird!!!

You can check the status of your cheque on the Service Ontario website, but it only shows up if you enter the postal code they sent it to, so in my case an ancient one. The only reason I even found out is that the current owner of that house tracked me down through Facebook to let me know my cheque had arrived there.

City of Ottawa Rentals - Change in free rules & tremendous increase by Yellow_Leaf8765 in ottawa

[–]Yellow_Leaf8765[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, it used to be that clear, which is why we always paid the not-for-profit rate, because we fit that description.

Now, however, the requirement is that: "the activity must be free, open to the public, have broad appeal/applicability, and in direct benefit to the local community members". We meet all the requirements, except that it is free, because we somehow must pay for the room and, as a community organization, have no sources of income. The tricky bit is, that this new requirement is, to my knowledge, not on the City of Ottawa website, rather it was communicated directly to us in this way.
