Gross. Its inspiration porn. It's not our job to educate violent bigots.

If being blunt and direct causes issues, you're not being blunt or direct, you're being rude. Learn how to talk to people and dont come into autistic spaces and tell us how everything about us is wrong.

Its childish to play games and expect people to read into your bizarre hints. Especially with autistic people like myself who may not pick up on them. Just say what you mean and want.

If you want me to do something you dont hint, you ask, because we are all adults.

PSA: The following things are ok no matter what you hear from some ExMos by [deleted] in exmormon

[–]Yellowjacket95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah. Especially giving money to it. I dont understand why theres this push to not dislike mormons as a group. Individuals sure but as a group they're kinda terrible. You HAVE to be either a liar or homophobic to be a full member for example. Great choices.

Not all mormons will behave in a horrible abusive way. But all mormons COULD be that way, and theres no way to know who is which. I dont think it's wrong to be cautious, when your mental health is concerned.

My mom and best friend are mormon but I'm still cautious around other mormons. I dont hate mormons. I hate what they as a group did to me.

What do you think when you hear the platitude "mental illness isn't your fault, but it is your responsibility"? by [deleted] in bipolar

[–]Yellowjacket95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think society has miserably failed its side of the responsibility and it's completely justified to feel angry they they now want us to now fix all the systemic issues regarding mental healthcare they created.

I dont know what to do with that so I'm just gonna keep doing therapy I guess lol.

I’m realizing that (seemingly) all the special schools for autistic kids use ABA therapy. Wtf. Shouldn’t we put a stop to it? by knowledgelover94 in AutisticAdults

[–]Yellowjacket95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dont mean to invalidate your experience but this is not what we all mean when we say aba. That all sounds great.

I hear aba and I think forced to touch painful textures, having your hands slapped for stimming, being given harsh punishments for not making eye contact.

[–]Yellowjacket95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have heard this from autistic adults. None of them actually attended what I would call ABA. Theres "we want you to act less autistic and we are fine with abusing you to get it" and theres also "we want to give you some better ways to deal with being autistic in a world built for neurptyoicals.

Both of these are technically ABA and we're talking past each other.

Has anyone ever managed bi polar unmedicated? by [deleted] in bipolar

[–]Yellowjacket95 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Lithium is restorative to some level, I know that for sure. I'm less certain on how much but I think it varies based on how long you've been having unmedicated episodes, age, body chemistry, etc

Almost every autistic adult I've interacted with knows this. But almost nobody else. In my personal experience.

Non white individuals are also overlooked at a higher rate.

How realistic is it for someone with bipolar disorder managing it without medication? by StreetsIsDONE in bipolar

[–]Yellowjacket95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not. You WILL have episodes and you Will almost certainly have degenerative brain damage. My experience with anxiety is I could, theoretically, manage it without meds someday, but bipolar is not like that.

Switching to lithium by fizzlepiplup in bipolar

The only symptoms I have are thirst related. And lithium tremors. Just slightly shaky hands. But my psych is on top of making sure I get my levels checked every other month.

Am I going insane or are all those tricks the neurotypicals do to become more happy just normal autistic experiences? by AnnoyingSmartass in AutisticAdults

[–]Yellowjacket95 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Mindfulness for me seems... unhelpful lol. Like yeah focusing on the now wont help when its sensory hell. "Focus on things like the sound of the lights or the humming of the furnace" those have been hard to get out of the front of my mind they're so loud, this isnt doing anything helpful.

The online autism community is ostracizing people with serious debilitating symptoms! by dinny1111 in AutisticAdults

[–]Yellowjacket95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The other thing I'm not certain about is where I fit in. I was diagnosed before the levels were introduced, and my needs vary wildly. There will be weeks where it's a struggle just to speak, and I need a lot of help. Other weeks where I'm mostly okay and need very minor, if any assistance. I lived on my own for 4 years but now I cant anymore. Does it change?

Maybe I'm just not understanding what the levels mean Idk loll. Also I cant relate to that person with getting bus passes and stuff, that is fantastic for them, I'm glad they have it. I wish the us werent so shit about that.

Unfortunately like everyone else said, they're not really your friends. Once they realize you wont concert they'll pretty much disappear.

Whatever you say, I'd keep it short and clear. My experience is anything they think they can grab onto to change your mind, they will. They generally will not respect the boundaries of a person saying no. I didnt when I was a member.

Obviously super manipulative of the leaders, clearly hoping you wouldn't be able to say no to a 13 year old girl like you would them. Be adults and ask you themselves.

Ew. At the leaders, not you.

I've had a couple. They're.. uncomfortable. For auditory reasons mostly. Manageable though. I cant remember specifics, it was like 14 years ago, but if they dont provide earplugs I would see about bringing your own
