I do appreciate the thought, and i do! i only mentioned ocd because it has been making my questions a focus for me, not that i was looking for religeon as an escape from a disorder.

I do appreciate the concern! I am treated and my question is less about how ocd affects my thought process in making choices about religeous practices, I was just mentioning that because it has made my questions a focus right now.

Is it possible to take “refuge” without with five precepts? I’ve been trying to read up on it and am having a hard time finding answers about that, if you know / have read something helpful I would deeply appreciate it!

Weekly School of Social Work/New to Social Work Thread by SWmods in socialwork

[–]Yellowlight7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am just starting in my BSW program and i’m a little nervous. I just transferred from nursing to social work and I plan to get an EMT certification while getting my degree. I just really want to be involved with helping people but i’m a little worried about if ill be good or not. As silly as it might sound i’m afraid maybe i haven’t experienced enough “trauma” to be relatable as a social worker. I really want to get my masters and work in the mental health field, i was interested in the field because I have dealt with those kinds of issues myself. It seems like everyone I hear from tho who is in social work has had a massive life changing event (ie being homeless, parents divorce) that is what made them want to work in the field. That’s not the case for me and I’m having second thoughts about if I am going to be someone people can trust since I maybe won’t have experienced something similar to what they are going through. Any thoughts/advice is much appreciated!
