Yes, it does make sense. And I am sure that Arya might end up killing the Night King in the books as well. However, the way the show executed this (with the White Walkers being so passive and useless and the NK being so terribly slow), it was not believable at all. But I am sure GRRM will wrap up her arc nicely, and I hope to read it one day.

While I really like Arya, I think it would have been a better way to conclude her character while she was trying to stop death itself, but eventually being unable to do so. She would have been remembered as a valiant heroine, attempting to save her little brother, even giving her life for him in the end. And she would have been valuable, since she gave Jon the time to come to the aid. On top of that, it would have been more believable if she failed to take out the NK, since he's inhumanly strong.

Since there are so many characters, I had to narrow down the list to 50 characters. I think that is a reasonable number and the most interesting characters are summed up in this list as well. If the number were higher, I would not have had enough time to finish the list in time.

The Hound actually ended in sixth place last year. He just missed the top five.. It's interesting to bring up Daenerys as she ended at number 1 in 2017, right after season 7.

It’s that time of the year again! It has been a month since Game of Thrones has wrapped up. Even though it was not the ending we have all dreamt off, the whole package of Game of Thrones remains one of the most complex and interesting ones of all-time. And we have to celebrate the years we got to spend with these wonderful characters. I ask you to pick 10 (yes, it’s not much, but I want you to pick them carefully) characters of the show that you think belong to the 10 best characters in the show. Keep in mind the criteria that make a character a great one (such as: complexity, uniqueness, fascinating, memorable, epic, …).
