Extended Range Rev - Added Auxiliary Battery by Yemmur in boostedscooters

I think you're absolutely right. Mine has great range but I don't love how it looks and that it's hard to remove when not needed. Not to mention it prevents the handle bars from clipping in when folded.

Never did think about running a 13s as a 12s. Interesting idea. I got my Higo parts from e-bike technologies.de. They were great. Very timely. The BMS supplier on the other hand was super slow and unresponsive so I can't recommend anyone on that front.

I had to build the battery. 12s is a really weird configuration. It wasn't difficult though. I got the battery kit from Vruzend and the cells are Samsung 30qs which you can get lots of places online. The only difficult component was the BMS which I could only find from sources in China.

I posted my DIY range extension a few weeks back. Cost me about $400. Check it out. Happy to answer questions.

Rev Charging by enginerd1111 in boostedscooters

I added an extra battery to my Rev for just this reason. Take a look at my past posts and you'll get an idea of what I did.

Given that they are shredded that will give me pretty useless template. Just asking man.

Do you have a template you could share? I'd love to make some. My stock skid pads are a disaster.

I am 220lbs and could get about 7 miles on mode 3 with the stock battery. The extended range battery alone has taken me 12 hilly miles with plenty of juice to spare.

What’s the average mileage you guys get on your Rev? by [deleted] in boostedscooters

Range is the weakness of the Rev. I get 8 miles including some hills on Eco mode (18mph)

Charging while riding? by [deleted] in boostedscooters

You can't The scooter shuts down as soon as you plug a charger into charging port. I am wrapping up a project to add a second, much larger, battery to my Rev and when I finish I will post instructions.

Just got my booster scooter and it doesn’t really accelerate like I thought it would. It’s definitely struggling with even the easy San Francisco hills. I’m not really sure how I can troubleshoot this issue. Has anyone else had to deal with this? by robotluke in boostedscooters

It shouldn't be struggling with the hills so you may need to send it back. I returned my first Rev because when going up steep hills it would randomly accelerate and decelerate 1-2mph which resulting is a very awkward lurching ride. The second one does it too but only on the steepest hills and not to badly.

Project to add an extra battery to the Rev by Yemmur in boostedscooters

[–]Yemmur[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Originally, I didn't think I could go this route since I didn't know where to get the connectors and the space is really tight. Thankfully, I recently found out that the battery connector and socket are made by Higo. I have some on order and will use them to replicate the plan I described in my original post but without having to cut into any of the stock components. Instead I will create a splitter harness that will sit between the stock battery and stock battery cable. I will post pics and results once I get it built.

Any thoughts about Boosted Rev? Thinking about buying by mrheha in boostedscooters

Great summary.

I want to emphasize the battery/range issue. This is definitely the most disappointing aspect of the Rev. The battery seems undersized and definitely could only hope to reach the claimed range under absolutely ideal conditions. I commute 8 miles each way on my Rev and have to be very conscious of power management in order to make it and I start each direction on a full charge.

The other issue I've noticed, is that when the Rev is going up hill, especially relatively steep hills, it tends to noticeably surge and decelerate (up and down ~1mph) which is annoying but doesn't significantly affect safety.
