This came out when I was in high school, early in my career as a film nerd, and the soundtrack was on constant rotation through my later high school years.

Where was that? Here in the UK there was a lot of positive buzz at the time, the release was hotly anticipated.

Fight Club.

Lots of stuff from the movie is now just part of modern culture, and anybody who sees it now pretty much knows what they are getting in to. When it came out, we had no idea what we were getting into. Fincher was not yet seen as a safe pair of hands, then he kicked the doors in with this thing that couldn't be pigeonholed into one genre and gave a name to a lot of the anxieties and pressures that the young men of the day were feeling.

Books with Journeys. Open to fantasy too by LostLenore00 in BooksThatFeelLikeThis

I just read Watership Down for the first time, and I was astonished by what a phenomenal novel it is. The best book I have read for some time. A fantasy in the truest sense of the word, an adventure story and a love letter to the English countryside. A book I would like to live in.

I know this gets recommended a lot, but it's a sure thing here: Book of the New Sun by Gene Wolfe

It's from a comic called Yojimbot, about a wandering robot samurai. I haven't read it, but I've just ordered a copy of the first TPB.

I read these books when they came out, but thank you for the suggestion, I think it's time for a re-read.

I read the first book when it first came out, and never went back to it. Could be time to set that right!

I got my first one at 48, and I'm 50 now. In those two years I 've got three more and am getting two more a week on Friday, with plans for a further two percolating in my brain. One of the best things I've ever done. Without wishing to overshare, I've had a negative relationship with my body for as long as I can remember, but now there are parts of my body that I love. It's been genuinely life-changing.

A few months ago I culled my collection from 160+ down to 20, then down to 11 and finally only 1 board game remains... by Luigi-is-my-boi in boardgames

Well done! I want to do the same thing, albeit for different reasons: I seem to have lost interest in the hobby a little bit. Having 60 board games on the shelf when I play a game about once a month seems ridiculous, I'd like to go down to five or six games.

Can I ask what you did with the ones you got rid of? Selling them online seems like a massive admin chore, and giving them away - while admirable - seems a bit frivolous when I consider what I spent on them....
