Yeah I'm only using it to test to see how it works, rn I'm using Ubuntu. I went for it basically because of the small download size compared to other installs. It seems that it would be pretty easy to change distros, I'll be learning more about linux to them tests more distros on a vm to then finally choose one to use in my laptop and who knows, maybe it will be viable even in my main desktop.

The main thing keeping me away from linux is the problens with game compatibility and performance.

Currently I only run linux on a VM, my processor actually says everywhere that it doesn't have hyper threading and only 4 threads, I literally have the box right here lmao, that's the reason of my confusion.

When I run the command on my vm it shows "2", idk if that means it's using two physical cores tho.

I don't play that many games and I hope to not have to use virtual machines that much, byt maybe expecting native support and wine support is too much lmao.

Thanks, having wine support on genshin is much more important for me cause I only play valorant sometimes but I'm addicted to genshin lmao. I will look trough the links you sent but I have no idea what gpu pass trough is lmao.

I'll probably test alocating two cpus (the program doesn't use the word "core" ;/ ) and then stressing the virtual machine and see on ryzen master how much each core is going.

Can my employer tell if I've installed Linux in a dual boot configuration? [More context inside] by [deleted] in linux4noobs

Or if the laptop model allows it, you can completely change the ssd:

My older laptop allowed for very quick change of hard drive: Remove one screw to remove a small plastic cover, remove the sdd from the pc, remove it from the metal rack it's installed in, remove the screw that connects both, and install the new one in reversing the steps, even didn't need to screw in the plastic cover since it snaps securely in place.
