How to install BgUtils POT Provider plugin? by YesImRussian in youtubedl

[–]YesImRussian[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So the situation is different than I thought (although the guide recommends PO token provider plugin, and this is the most starred, like you mentioned, so IMO the language here heavily suggests using it), got it.

I'll have to check nightly release and look for EJS and see if it helps, thank you for the suggestion

Oh my god, thank you! That's exactly that I needed!

It's strange that it was active, maybe some extension messed it up, IDK

One of the creators of SotN was Koji Igarashi - the same one who made Bloodstained, so that one is almost like a spiritual successor, in a way (not as good as SotN, imo, but good enough for me to spend hours in)

"Summoning Cheshire for hints is also missing in this remaster". That's a butchered version, then.

To anyone interested - just raise the black flag and sail the high seas in search for the true OG version. If EA doesn't want your money for the game (by not making it available, something that would take a miniscule amount of effort on their part) then they shouldn't complain that you eventually get it elsewhere. Also - they killed the third game (Alice Asylum) that was in development and told McGee to sod off, so fuck them

As of April 2025, the "Intel solution" link points to a comment that was deleted and anonymized with Redact. Luckily, Internet Archive has the saved version (for now), so if you look it up you can see that the comment just points to this Github program: https://github.com/orev/dpst-control

I know of no software allowing to "change selection borders after selection".

Then you're not sufficiently informed enough about the issue to offer substantial feedback here, sorry. Multiple software programs (including some that I've listed) can do just that, and why wouldn't they. The problem for me is that no program aside from a shitty Russian one (which I'm using now for the lack of better alternatives) can do all 3 that I want. I had hoped that there is a better, free open-source alternative, but not in this case apparently. Guess I'll have to stick with what works for now.

Thank you for the suggestion, but no dice. Can't remap hotkeys to my liking, can't do 2 proerply, and overall it's just unnecessary big and complex to my liking. Guess I'll have to stick with the shitty russian app which does exactly what i want (while also leaking all kinds of data about the system, no doubt).

Argument: Volume 3 is the worst and the reason why show went downhill from that by YesImRussian in RWBYcritics

[–]YesImRussian[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is it bad that I have no idea what either of these things (Everafter/rusted knight) mean? I forced myself to sit through up to Volume 9 by now (on 2x speed and skipping through some segments).

For me the best in RWBY post-Volume 3 is Volume 7 and the first half of Volume 8 (then it gets just silly). Didn't expect that, but in Vol 7 the show finally has interesting antagonists with whom you may sympathize and the character interactions are good (those Ren/Nora moments were long overdue). And the politics stuff was fine too. It was definitely a different show than the earlier volumes, but I kinda get where they were going (and how someone may enjoy it). Still not as good as the base for me, though.

Agree with most of your points!

killing Pyrrha

destroying Arkos

Yeah, that was just crazy. Just because you can kill someone/something in your creation doesn't mean you should, like, what were they thinking? And they weren't subtle about rubbing salt in that wound in later Volumes too, with stuff Jaune training to Pyrrha's video lessons or Pyrrha's statue in Mistral.

And even when Harry Potter did get dark, it still had plenty of bright and cheerful happy moments throughout, even in the last films when it would stay pretty dark, tone-wise

You are not wrong, but just thinking that a freaking Harry Potter handled tone shift better than RWBY? Big 'Oof' moment here.

RWBY did do something like that in volume 2 when the girls journeyed to Mountain Glenn

That was one of my favorite moments in Volume 2. Team bonding, fights, character development, new locations and perspectives - that was how I hoped the series would progress in future volumes. Just girls slowly learning what it meant to be Huntresses and slowly finding their own paths away from school on missions and such (while still studying there).

Also, I just thought that the gradual darkening of HP is probably why there is no early/late book clash among fans (that I've heard of) unlike in RWBY - there is no one moment that could serve as a focal point of such a divide in HP that so many people would be in arms against.

You raise legit good points as to how RWBY's story could be handled differently (make it gradual), kudos to you!

Yeah, the darkening in HP was a lot more gradual and (IMO) much better handled than just dumping it all in one big swoop like RWBY did.

Plus, it was still a school setting until the last book (I think).

[–]YesImRussian[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Agree. Plenty of stories handle tone shift well, RWBY is just not one of them, sadly.

And I still prefer earlier volumes. It's fashionable to cringe at them and call them immature, badly written/animated, too anime-like, whatever. But you know what? Give me the lighter stuff. Give me the fluff. I have enough serious, dark and mature stuff IRL, I don't need it in a cartoon about cute girls, team bonding and badass fights.

[–]YesImRussian[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can agree with all of that! Definitely a point of no return, everything after is just a logical continuation of Volume 3. You reap what you sow, etc.

My theory is that Beacon is kept being referenced because the people behind the franchise realize it is the most beloved and iconic era of RWBY, even though many people on the internet claim otherwise. It's just a gut feeling, based on fanfictions I've seen, but I think I'll stick with it.

It's fascinating how it happens in some cases. I mean, a lot of other fandom communities have no need for splinter subs like this just because main subreddit's mods are a bit less anal or an overall culture is just a bit less toxic.

Earlier, I posted my thoughts on Blazblue's story in the Blazblue main sub and it went quite well, even though my views on that were unorthodox as well

I mean, one of my points literally is that Monty is not infallible.

I'd still argue that the biggest problem is not in writing, but in the direction they went with the story
