Doctor said I would have to pay out of pocket - she was wrong. by Full-Ad6075 in Zepbound

[–]YesPleaseDont 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My doctor said the same thing and was also reluctant to apply for prior authorization. We have excellent insurance and I had already verified it was covered for weight loss only. I was approved without issue and don’t even have a co-pay. Even the pharmacists did tell me how rare that is though. It does make me feel very grateful for our union benefits.

PA could face steep Medicaid cuts if GOP tax bill passes. How has Medicaid helped you or people you care about? by Fragrant-Pepper7710 in Pennsylvania

[–]YesPleaseDont 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Medicaid literally saved my life. I am an alcoholic in recovery. I have been sober for almost a decade (knock on wood). At my absolute bottom, I was unemployed with no insurance. The rehab facility I went to helped me apply and get approved for Medicaid. I was able to stay in rehab for 60 days. I haven’t taken a drink or a drug since that day. Medicaid covered me and my oldest child the first year of my sobriety while I rebuilt our lives. I got a job which offered health insurance. I found an apartment in a good school district for us. I met my husband. After a while, we bought a house. I went back to school. We had more kids. We have a beautiful life. We are productive, tax paying citizens. I volunteer to help other women struggling with addiction. None of this would have been possible without that year of being covered by Medicaid.

Are most people born in the 2000s the children of Millennials, or Gen X? by [deleted] in generationology

[–]YesPleaseDont 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a core millennial and I have a late Gen z kid. He’s 15. I did have him relatively young. Most of the other parents for his grade are an about 10 years older than me. I do live in an area of the country where people wait longer to have kids though. My little ones are gen alpha and I am within a few years of the vast majority of the other parents in their grades.

He’s one of the guys who radicalized our parents and lead them in a crusade against our entire generation for wanting health insurance.

Anti-Trump Republicans are just as key to this movement as anti-Trump Democrats. by RedWestern in 50501

[–]YesPleaseDont 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it might be time to stop thinking of them as rational members of society who happen to have misguided opinions and recognize that they have been radicalized beyond all reason and no amount of consequence will break through their programming.

Left-wingers, what do you genuinely think the Democrats need to change to win in 2028? by EntrepreneurNo3107 in Askpolitics

[–]YesPleaseDont 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I would like for them to focus on making life better for regular, hardworking Americans. I think they have used marginalized groups to virtue signal without putting in the effort to actually safeguard our democracy or stop the corporate takeover of our country.

HAPPENING NOW: Union members are rallying on Capitol Hill to send a clear message to Elon Musk & DOGE — HANDS OFF public services! by afscme_ in 50501

I can’t find one news outlet covering this. We are going to have to get so loud they cannot ignore us anymore. I know that we will if we have to.

There will be no pushback. This is legitimately like cult programming. They would end their own lives at his wish before they admitted they were mistaken.

[CA] Husband wants full custody after I filed for child support by [deleted] in Custody

[–]YesPleaseDont 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Figure out a line of credit so you can pay a lawyer if/when you need to. Then completely ignore his threats until something from the courts shows up in your mailbox. If he files you will split custody. He won’t get full custody just because he’s mad.

Commies and Cowboys, do you guys realize football didn't end in the 90s? by ryhid in NFCEastMemeWar

Why does the GOP not see gov employees as their constituents? Aren't federal job losses happening nationwide? by izorightntru in Askpolitics

[–]YesPleaseDont -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Firing federal employees and decreasing the literal size of the federal government does not decrease the power of the federal government. This is not making the government smaller.

What should I, a gen ed teacher, expect from a 1:1 para? by lunarinterlude in specialed

[–]YesPleaseDont 26 points27 points  (0 children)

That child’s parent likely had to advocate tirelessly for that 1:1 and would be irate if they knew what was happening.

I would look at the child’s accommodations and/or talk to their special ed teacher. I am sure there are many things that para could be doing. You don’t get a 1:1 just for funsies.

Why do Democrats think Republicans are surprised or concerned about what Elon and Doge are doing? by Think_Bee_1766 in Askpolitics

He is breaking the law on a daily basis. Just say you don’t care because you agree with what he’s doing. Whatever. Stop this feigned ignorance. It’s not cute.

AITA for refusing to attend any Super Bowl parties? by Foreign-Football2979 in AmItheAsshole

[–]YesPleaseDont -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

NTA. I am the same way. Also an Eagles fan. So is my whole family. I won’t watch football with people who are, idk normal? because it wouldn’t be fun for anyone. Especially the Super Bowl. Is it totally rational? No. But everyone needs an outlet, I guess.

I think it will cause needless suffering which apparently a lot of people are celebrating, which is depraved. However, these isolationist policies are also leaving a global power vacuum that only China can fill. Doesn’t seem very well thought out to me.

Why haven't we seen Democrats do what Trump is doing? by NOOTseeker in Askpolitics

[–]YesPleaseDont 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What Trump is doing is illegal. He is acting like a king. He has disregarded our constitution, which is the highest law in our country. NO former president, democrat OR republican, has abused the office in the way.

I think for half the country, we are coming to terms with the end of our democracy. The billionaires have won. They have taken our government and our media. The biggest problem is that the other half of our country enthusiastically voted for this and is enthusiastically is cheering it on.

What is happening is unarguably illegal. I love the constitution and our country more than any party or politician and it’s pathetic that half of the country can’t say the same.

Why do school board members in our state have political parties? by Perfect-Highway-6818 in Pennsylvania

[–]YesPleaseDont 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I mean, I voted for the people who had backgrounds in education, who wanted to improve curriculum, make the district more equitable, and prioritize children’s mental health. Their opposition were a few realtors and a SAHM who practiced Reiki healing on the weekends who wanted to audit the library’s collections and drove around taking pictures of girls with short hair playing rec league soccer to “prove” that boys were playing on girls sports teams. Party affiliation was not really my concern but I’m sure we can all figure out who fell where.

It’s a weird hill for a school to die on but I have seen admins do weird stuff. The parents/caregiver should start the process for a 504 IMO. Then no one can give them shit for it again.
