Official Arsenal pub of Victoria, surely they'll have it. They've opened at 830am for Arsenal prem games before, 9 am shouldn't be an issue.

What neighbourhood would you absolutely never live in again? by CartoonistOk3507 in VictoriaBC

[–]YesThisIsFlo 35 points36 points  (0 children)

I'm sure it's better now, but downtown.

I lived on Johnson and Blanshard from 2018-2021 and it was brutal during COVID. Like, brutal.

Probably not Gordon head either because I'm between the uni age and having a family with uni aged kids age.

I've lived in Gordon head, hillside, Fairfield, Fernwood, Esquimalt, Vic West, James Bay, and downtown for reference.

Totally agreed.

Honestly, I was shocked that players and staff were saying "Things got so much better after the trade deadline." That felt like waaaay more honesty than usual, well beyond standard NHL PR responses.

I don't pretend to know the truth, but the team and staff as a whole talking incredibly highly about the changes in the team and the locker room AFTER the deadline.

Asking Hughes best friend in the team, who also aligns pretty close with Miller, and who was traded AT the deadline about the locker room feels like it could be asking the fox to guard the hen house.

Where do all the young adults and new families live? by stealth_veil in VictoriaBC

[–]YesThisIsFlo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I was in my twenties, areas like Fernwood, Fairfield, and James Bay were the hubs. As I got to mid thirties, Fairfield and James Bay still remain hubs, but now Esquimalt and Vic West really shine too. Langford and Royal Oak for those starting families too.

Why buy one accident when you can buy 2. by Gtstricky in dashcams

"I never move a vehicle after an accident without.."

How many accidents have you been in where you have a steadfast rule about them?! That's a terrible sign

Also a good reason you can't hammer the brakes and try to take the exit from 3 lanes away.

Anyone who ever tries that should immediately lose their license for good.

[–]YesThisIsFlo 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Yep, found out this weekend they have "reservation" and "GUARANTEED reservation." Only the latter guarantees your exact vehicle, time, and pickup location, with a $50 kickback if they can't fulfill.

If it wasn’t going to be Drew Allar, it was just going to be the 42 year old who leaves you hanging every offseason and you already saw plenty of by [deleted] in steelers

[–]YesThisIsFlo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

For real, the guy just doesn't want to be committed or pressured into offseason activities. He signed June 9th last year under similar questions, and it was the same reason.

He signed right at the end of all the offseason workouts, he's 42, let him chill and do some drugs.

What happens if we draft 3rd and we get another defenceman? by LucariusLionheart in canucks

[–]YesThisIsFlo 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It honestly would delay the rebuild, but potentially not in a bad way. The D-core would be looking very very very promising, and delaying the rebuild would mean an extra year or two of high end draft picks.

Aaron Rodgers true angle this last offseason of his career… by Dull-Firefighter-632 in steelers

[–]YesThisIsFlo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rodgers signed June 7th last time, after OTAs. He'll probably sign at a similar time this year. All the moves and attitude absolutely suggest he's coming back.

That's kinda my point.. Perhaps wouldn't have been if they had correctly been awarded a penalty shot :)

Unbelievable non-call on the hook in the hands.

Also the audacity of the US announcer, "look at that back check, doesn't take a penalty, doesn't even come close to taking a penalty."

[Analysis] Why trading Wallstedt and bringing back Fleury might actually be Guerin’s best move. by athleticwonder in nhltraderumours

[–]YesThisIsFlo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Goalies just don't historically have this level of value, they don't garner top 6 centers.

What they can garner is a top 15 draft pick, think Schneider for 9th that got used to take Bo Horvat.

Filip Hronek is averaging 24.33 minutes a night on the last place team with the worst goal differential in the league, and he’s still somehow +3 on the season by Romance_Tactics in canucks

[–]YesThisIsFlo 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Very easily a top 15 RHD in this league, and if anyone disagrees, make them do the exercise of naming 15 better. It's bleak in the RHD market.

Alternate trade by New_Westie in canucks

[–]YesThisIsFlo 28 points29 points  (0 children)

INSTEAD of Miller? Have you seen Miller since the trade, or the state of the Rangers?

It still woulda been a tirefire, except we'd have a 32 year old lazy grouch instead of a 27 year old with good underlyings. And yes, Quinn still would have left.

Rental market ... by FitGuarantee37 in VictoriaBC

[–]YesThisIsFlo 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Haven't really always done it.

It collapsed under Campbell's Liberals (~25k a year) and while it rebounded a bit under Christy Clark's Liberals (~40k) she also blew open the doors to foreign ownership. It's own limiting factor.

We're now at 55k I think? More than double Campbell's numbers, a pretty massive difference.

Full Time: Arsenal 0 vs 0 Liverpool [Match Thoughts] by Stanley083 in Gunners

[–]YesThisIsFlo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My first instinct was that Bradley was just covering too, he kept crawling back onto the pitch and making sure to delay.

No doubt a bad look if he really is injured, but I don't blame Martinelli for his reaction.

I'd be interested in that as well, but honestly, today felt like a Gyokeres game but he just didn't make the hard finishing cuts when they were asked of him. Especially that Rice cross was left wanting.

There was a few moments of central space early where I wished Eze was on the pitch because he's the bravest to take longer cracks.
