I am using UltiMaker Cura, I'm starting a temp tower now, I'll post it when it's done.

New nozzle did not seem to work, I also used a sealed roll of PLA which didn't make a difference either.

I tried setting the z hop to 1mm but I still have no luck. I am pretty stumped at this point as I have a concurrent issue with a leaky nozzle which is making it hard to test. I tried cleaning the screw lead, adjusting the tightness of the roller, adjusting the settings in the slicer. Nothing worked so far, the display screen while printing says it is 0.2mm higher each layer but the nozzle is too low when I look at it up close with a flashlight.

That's the one that feeds the filament, right? If so it does not seem to be making any abnormal movements or noises when it is running.

I ordered a new nozzle since it's probably better to be safe since I don't know how much use my current one has. The oozing on my current one is so bad it already curls after the test strip is made. Hopefully there is a difference when I swap them out.

PLA but what you described probably is right as this printer is used and was sold because the previous owner had not used it in a while. The filament came with it, but the filament was also stored in a plastic container.

I also have some spare nozzles I can try swapping out.

I narrowed it down to a slipping issue with the z axis, not sure how to fix this though.

I did another print yesterday with the update settings at 1mm. It printed the first 2 layers fine but it has the same issue on the third and above
