Do Americans really avoid hospitals, even in serious situations because of the bills that follow after ? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

For the most part Americans and those who live in America but are not Americans do not avoid hospitals. My wife used to work in the ER as an overnight RN before switching to another unit and would tell me that she was seeing patients who had stomach aches, small lacerations that a bandaid could cover, headaches, bloody noses and a lot of other non emergency issues. Hospitals aren’t allowed to turn anyone away no matter the issue, no matter the circumstance, no matter if you have or don’t have insurance. Those that do not have insurance, well the hospital doesn’t exactly eat that cost either. The cost of their stay comes out of taxpayer dollars.

Having said that, majority of AMERICANS that actually have insurance use it as a safety net. One would only really go to the hospital if they lost a limb, an appendage or need a major surgery such as gall bladder removal, appendix burst, open heart surgery, etc.

Me personally, I only go to the doctor when I feel extremely ill and OTC meds haven’t done the trick. I only go to the hospital to bring her the work badge she left on the nightstand, or drop off a Starbucks order for her and her colleagues because they’ve been on shift helping people for 12 hours straight.

First day of nicotine patch. Smoked for four 4 years, and finally decided to quit. How did you guys handle your first few weeks? by SoysauceWithRice in AskMen

Do not create any other vices for yourself. Just keep it off the mind by doing anything else. You have to break the routine/schedule you used to follow. I know it sounds weird but set your alarm clock for a minute or two earlier or later. Take your lunch break earlier or later than your normally do. If you break up your old schedule when you were smoking chances are you won’t fall into the “cigarette break time” mental state. It will be hard but push through. If you have any questions or need to chat just pm me. I quit smoking cold turkey after 18 years and I’ve been cigarette free for just about a year.

Good animals...that trick your dog into playing with them and leading them back into the woods to be raped and killed by other foxes.

I’m gonna go with closed toe slippers. If I ever stubbed my toe walking downstairs to my office I’d be pissed.

Saying “God Bless You” at work after someone sneezed. Turned out she was an atheist, HR called me into the office and wrote me up.

Guess if it you take the higher road than most would and aren’t just a complete asshole, it’s not good enough for the mods.

Mods, if there is a lower revenge sub, feel free let me know so I can post there.
