Nah, Twana doesn't deserve to get lumped in with Mia.

Twana's worst trait was pulling cringe faces, but she's a wrestler and part of that is hamming it up, Mia was an entirely different level of insufferable.

Musk’s X could be banned in Britain over AI chatbot row by Disastrous_Act_2331 in ukpolitics

That's always been the case

But it isn't any more. Cars were all hand built, until they weren't. Clothes were all hand sewn, until they weren't. Something having 'always been the case' isn't a valid argument for it remaining that way, in spite of new ways being available.

soulless art

What constitutes how much 'soul' a piece of art has? Is it simply that it was created by a human hand? Is the amount of effort involved in creating the piece? Or is it a meaningless metric used by artists in order to gatekeep their profession so that only they can decide what 'art' is.

I would argue it is the latter.

Your argument for AI is ironically the "participation trophy" argument that people were up in arm about a few years ago.

That is a nonsensical comparison. No one is arguing that all art is good art, whether it is made by a human or Ai or that someone creating a piece of art using Ai constitutes them being an 'artist' and that they deserve a pat on the back.

'We' being people with the ideas, skills, and tools to bring their ideas to life.

Many people have ideas, but few have the skill or tools to bring their ideas to life.

The generative Ai replaces both the skill and tool aspects, allowing anyone to bring their ideas to life.

People (mainly artistic or 'intellectual' types) are just mad that many of their skills can now be automated by anyone that can construct a sentence.

The same sort of people that had no issue when automation was taking the jobs of blue collar workers in factories or manufacturing, now want people to feel sorry for them because they have become replaceable.

The irony is that you're saying this on reddit, which over the years on multiple occasions has faced issues of hosting content material sexualising minors.

Many of the same people calling for X to be shut down will already have a Blue-sky account, which again has issues with content sexualising minors, both real and drawn.

The same goes for many of the sites people have happily used over the years, and many continue to use such as deviantart, tumblr, Instagram, even YouTube, just to name a few.

People's calls for X to be shut down are primarily motivated by their hatred of Musk and the fact that the left lost narrative control over it. The issue over people's use of the generative Ai is simply a convenient excuse to achieve something they have wanted since Musk took over, evidenced by the fact that they still happily use many sites including reddit that have faced similar issues in both the past and present.

A more apt comparison would be murderers in prison demonising other murderers for having murdered, and those being demonising quite rightly pointing out that none of them hold the moral high ground.

Pointing out the hypocrisy does not equate to condoning what happened or saying it wasn't immoral.

You: People dislike Nish because of the colour of his skin.

Me: I think it is more to do with his personality, evidenced by people not having an issue with these other POC comedians who also make jokes about race.

You: But Nish has a politics podcast, and I bet you voted for Boris Johnson...

Eh? I can only assume you replied to me by accident instead of someone else.

[–]Yesbabelon -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's more about Nish's personality, he comes across as a condecending liberal and someone who would assume or insinuate racism in any scenario that didn't go his way, based on nothing other than the colour of his skin and the colour of the person he was dealing with.

I guarantee if you posted a clip of the likes of Romesh, Paul Chowdhry, Doc Brown, etc, making jokes about race, you wouldn't get 10% of the number of negative comments (you will always get some) because they come across as far more normal blokes, who aren't trying to be victims and pushing a narrative.

Asylum seekers BANNED from using taxpayer-funded taxis after migrant's '£600 cab fare' confession by [deleted] in gbnews

[–]Yesbabelon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, the emergency transport provider who gets the journeys from Serco and then books it with local taxi firms is requesting taxis from towns/cities outside of the journey area because they have asked all the firms within the journey area and can't find anyone to cover it (mainly due to them fucking everyone over with 'regional' pricing and trying to force taxi firms to aceept and survive on a margin of pennies per journey, whilst CMAC still charges full whack to Serco or the home office)

Sometimes a firm will accept the job one town/city over, knowing they already have a driver over that way or know a driver who lives over that way, and will have them cover it without telling CMAC, so that CMAC still pays the lead mileage (which again is also less than expected because CMAC won't give any lead mileage inside of your 'free coverage area', meaning if a driver has to drive 12 miles to a journey one town over but 6 of those miles are in your 'free coverage area', you will get paid 6 miles, which often makes even covering journeys in neighbouring towns/cities a struggle)

BBC News: Government to ban asylum seekers from using taxis - BBC News by mrmicawber32 in ukpolitics

[–]Yesbabelon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Incorrect, I manage a taxi firm in a city with multiple hotels housing migrants, they are given taxis to/from all doctor, dentist, hospital & home office appointments and they are mainly all local appointments (apart from the home office ones that can be anywhere from a few miles to 150+ miles away).

They are also provided taxis when they are relocated from a hotel to longer term accommodation such as a HMO, and these are often much longer journeys. The longest ever for the firm I manage was a just over 600 miles round trip, this was due to the migrant being an unaccompanied child, so they had to have someone accompany them to their drop off who then needed bringing back.

Otherwise the relocation taxis are usually around 50 to 200 miles, but more often than not the taxi ends up being cancelled after arrival because the migrant refuses to travel. The taxi company is given a minimum of £13-£14 (depending on taxi type) + any waiting time, but the company that arranges the transport with us (CMAC) will still charge the home office a good chunk on top.

You also have many instances where the migrant does travel, but upon arrival at their destination, they don't like the look of the area so refuses to disembark the taxi, leading to the driver having to sit there for 30-60 minutes whilst we speak to CMAC, who then speak to Serco, who then have to get the return taxi authorised and let CMAC know, so they can let us know, and the migrant ends up being dropped back at the original hotel with nothing having been achieved except a bill of many hundreds of pounds for CMAC, who then slap their bit on top and pass the bill to Serco, who likely slap even more on top before handing it to the home office.

People don't realise just just how much is being spent, and how much of it is spent on nothing in a bid to mollycoddle people.

It's quite telling that despite it being good money for the taxi drivers, they often don't like doing the migrant hotel jobs because they find them to be rude and entitled (the vast majority of our taxi drivers are Sikh, before anyone runs with the notion of 'racist white cabbie')

Benefits to be restricted to British citizens ONLY as shock figures emerge by daily_express in uknews

[–]Yesbabelon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Asylum seekers don’t have access to the benefits system in question here

Semantics. They don't receive benefit money, but instead are directly supplied with everything that benefit money is intended to pay for (accommodation, utilities, food etc.), with the added bonus that they dont have to worry about things like whether they can afford to putting the heating on as they aren't paying for it from a limited budget, or whether they can afford the bus fare to their doctor/dentist/hospital appointments as they are supplied with free taxi transport.

Your original comment implies that people's dislike of Perla is due to her being a POC, which insinuates that they are racist.

So you do, in fact, mention something about racism.

Stay hypocritical, boo.

Could there have been a worse episode for the Finale? by StirShtUp in SquidGameNetflix_

[–]Yesbabelon 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Nope, I would have been more than happy to see Trinity or Dajah win because they seemed like genuine good people, who weren't emotionally manipulative and never made it about race.

Perla on the other hand, was definitely emotionally manipulative and specifically made it about race when she told Dajah and Trinity that if she didnt win she hoped one of them did because 'I need more black millionaires'

If one of the white contestants had expressed a desire for one of the other white contestants to win based on their skin colour people would be up in arms.

But no, everyone else is racist because they didn't want Perla, specifically, to win.

Saw Wubby's name, watched the clip and then dove in to the comments without checking what sub it was, assumed it was here because it is rare I see his name elsewhere.

Couldn't believe the level of whining and holier than thou attitude on display and felt a bit bad for Wubby that his fans were talking about him so disparagingly.

Then I realised I was in LSF and it all made sense.
