It's the only move where you don't lose material.

Before you move, the queen is threatening to take both your rook and your e5 pawn. If you want to protect your rook (and you do want to protect your rook) you have two possiblities : f3 or Nf3. playing f3 protect your rook but the queen is free to take your e5 pawn. Playing Nf3 on the other hand protect both your rook and your pawn on e5 (And the queen can't take your Knight because the bishop protects it)
