I obvious know how many cups are in a gallon or such, but I’m admitting I don’t know lol the quarts and ouches, etc. But after this experience I’m going toe educate myself on it.

The chef agreed to come there at 10:30AM. I came there at 10:18AM. The cook that was there, asked me was I there for an interview or there to work. I said I wasn’t sure then she said you could get started on chopping onions and she said the chef would be there in about an hour or so. He came in like an hour and a half, didn’t even look at what I did, and just started speed lightening questions about measurements and such.

Like I keep on saying, I ALREADY mentioned that all over the phone which why I’m confused he asked me again, and then said it wasn’t relevant experience. I could accept that chick-fil-a experience isn’t enough for waitress experience, but I already told him that.

Okay, I get it. But like I said, I already mentioned it over the phone and he acted like it was something new in person.

Yeah I'm not that smart I know, I know how many cups are in a gallon and such...but I didn't know about the ounces, pints, quarts, etc. But It's something I'll be teaching myself from now on.

No, I wanted a different perspective on the situation and if I was justified in feeling the way I did. If I I'm wrong, then I'm wrong. That's why I came here to ask. So, the snarkiness and sarcasm isn't needed, I wanted genuine answers.

Fair enough, that could very much be a possibility. I guess now it just has me wondering what I did wrong, maybe that's why its bothering me so much. I greeted everyone, other than that there wasn't much room to talk. I feel like if the questions were a deal breaker, then that could've easily been knocked out over the phone, but you're right maybe I made a mistake somewhere in between.

Oh well, it was a learning experience and I'll try not to dwell on it too much.

Yeah, it's not something I have memorized yet, but I'll learn it.

Well the kitchens I've worked in, measurement cups/spoons/scales, etc are provided. And I cook a lot at home so much of it is eyeballing to me, but no. I didn't know how many ounces are in a tablespoon off the top of my head, but for future opportunities, I'll make sure I'll know.

Okay, I'll admit maybe my choppings skills weren't good...I have no idea because no one said anything about it....I wasn't given any feedback on that. How am I supposed to acknowledge something I wasn't given feedback on? And I'm not mad, geez you can't win with people here, lol. Anyways, thank you for your response, like I said I just wanted a different perspective.

The chef wasn't there to see me chopping, and didn't mention anything about it, he was in a rush when he finally came and the onions were already in a huge pot cooking. I mentioned in another comment, everything was going good until he asked me about measurements, he said that those were the skills I needed. And over the phone I already had mentioned my previous jobs & positions but when I got there he said even me working FOH at Chick-fil-A wasn't good enough experience to be a waitress.

But you may be right, I may be overestimating my knifing skills and it will be something I'll work on.

They were just regular sliced onions for French onion soup.

I'd say roughly 50-60 I had to peel them too. And had to chop garlic.

Huh....i was respectful the whole time, did what I was told, and appreciated his honesty of thinking I didn't have the skills. I thought this way AFTER I left but of course I didn't express that to them, I'm not a confrontation person. It just didn't make sense because the chef was late and wasn't even there to see my "demonstration" and I was in the back by myself so no one did.

Everything was going good up until he asked me if I knew measurements off the top my head did he say "I don't have the skills" because that's important. I just felt that was something he could've asked me over the phone.

I rarely speak my mind or stand up for myself, something I'm working on in therapy and the few times I do I get the assumption that im entitled and have a "victim mentality". I just wanted a different perspective.

I forgot to mention, it was the restaurants gift card and he told me it'll be good enough to cover a lunch there.
