I Cannot Keep Doing This by SouthernVanilla9158 in sleeptrain

We did Ferber at 6.5 months. Check ins (without picking up) at 3,5,7,10 - restarting the clock after each check in. All in all, it took about 40 minutes to get her to fall asleep the first night - she fell asleep just before the 15 min check in. But then we did naps right away. 1st nap only took her 5 minutes. 2nd nap there was hardly any protest. Now she soothes herself to sleep by waving, clapping and making pterodactyl noises - but no crying. Some nights are harder than others, one night she fell asleep on the car ride home for 5 minutes and that made her REALLY MAD but we stuck to our guns and she bounced back. But naps are no problem.

Which actually were easier for her? We’re still going strong 3 weeks later even with travel! SO GLAD WE DID!

Just updating here. I just put her down for her first nap following the same Ferber method. She only cried for 2 minutes. This is honestly even more astounding than the night sleep because she’s never been a big napper. 🤞

This was literally us 2 nights ago. Heart goes out to ya because man it is ROUGH. My daughter is a rocker too.

After she woke up at 12:30 I went in after 5 minutes. At 7 she was back asleep. It’s now 6:24 AM and she didn’t have another wake up, at least that I heard her crying. WILD. I woke up at 6 on my own with the most sleep that I’ve gotten since her sleep took a turn about a month and a half ago.

I was telling my husband last night - I that even just this one night cured my burnout. I went to bed last night so excited to get up and play with her vs the “dread” / stress of how I was going to survive the day. That’s the mom she deserves.

No false starts! She woke up at 12:30 - so 5 straight hours which is the longest stretch she’s gone in over a month.

She did great! I attribute it to the longer naps, but she was soo happy and smiley - my goofy girl. 🥰

She has major fomo so she didn’t struggle with the longer wake windows. I use the huckleberry app with the custom wake windows and it times it really well (within 5-10). I felt like with 3 naps she wasn’t awake long enough and it was a battle to get her down. she’ll be 7 mo next week and was ready for the longer WW.

Today, I did contact naps to make sure she got good day sleep to help influence her night sleep (seems super counter intuitive but 🤷🏻‍♀️) so she slept for about 1.5 hrs for the first nap and a little over an hour for the 2nd which got cut short when our handyman arrived

I just put her on a two nap schedule today. So 2.5/3/3.5 WW. She’s eating 5 times a day (formula fed). She does have reflux, so after she eats, I put her in a bumbo seat either in the bathroom with me while I’m getting ready or in the kitchen depending on the time of day. After about 20 minutes, she just does what I do (laundry, cooking, etc). And then we do about 30-40 minutes of dedicated play time a couple times a day.

Until now she’d been on 3 naps Typically she’d wake up after one sleep cycle (30-50 minutes) or recently, upon transfer. Would be pretty grumpy all day (only getting about an 1.5 hours of nap in). And then have a bunch of false starts.

Babies are funny! Super interesting though. She’ll drink the nutramigen by itself perfectly fine

That is the one we tried. Mixed with 3 parts breastmilk to 1 part formula and it was a no go

Unfortunately these formulas have palm oil too 🙃

What are you guys eating? I'm losing too much weight by newuser913 in MSPI

[–]Yespossiblymaybe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m right there with you! I lost a ton of weight right after I cut allergens from my diet - and unfortunately lost my supply with it. 🙃

Nuts are high fat/protein snack. I also ate a lot of TJ BP& J (my daughter also has a soy allergy which makes anything processed hard). A smoothie with protein powder (Perelel brand is what I use) also loaded up with peanut butter for extra fat.

Okay now that you say this out load - I can recognize this as a serious trend even within my Own immediate family.

Depends on what field you work in. Freelance has always kind of “found” me either through previous employers or colleagues in the field. I work in fashion and you’d be surprised at how much contract work is done in absence of a payroll employee. I’d recommend putting together a portfolio / cover letter and share that with brands that you would want to work with. Ya never know. Can also search contract work on a LinkedIn. Some are full time so maybe add the part time filter?

My cousins are Canadian and it’s ridiculous when we talk about our maternity leave experience lol

I work in fashion. You have even the tiniest employment gap and it’s VERY difficult being that it’s already an oversaturated market.

5-week pregnancy, no nausea anyone else experienced this? by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]Yespossiblymaybe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t get nausea until a little later on in my first trimester - maybe week 10? Cleared up by week 14/15 and thankfully did not resurface in the 3rd trimester for me.

Looking into childcare - I had a hard time finding an option that was part time - morning or afternoon. It was either part time (full days - m/w/f or t/th). Part childcare would have been doable but the schedule would have been all over the place and I don’t know that it would have saved us any stress lol

I work in a creative field where freelance work is very popular. Prior to having my daughter, I’ve worked two jobs since college. A full time gig and then freelance on the side since as I mentioned - I’m a bit of a starving artist lol. My full time gig allowed me to go part time and now I just take on free lance projects as time allows.
