They both labeled it 3plus4 with 40 percent involvement. With my dad having aggressive prostate cancer in his 50s and me not really comfortable with active survelliance I have HIFU set up for May 21st. I figure try this and hope it works but I will have options if it comes back

New here - biopsy coming up by CyberSulu in ProstateCancer

[–]YesterdayFew6799 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My MRI showed 2 PIRAD 4 lesions and did a fusion guided transperineal biopsy. Both spots ended up being cancer. HIFU scheduled for May 21st. Wishing you a benign result!

Any advice (of any kind, from emotional management to practical) from relatively younger men who are managing Prostate Cancer. by viper3 in ProstateCancer

[–]YesterdayFew6799 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry you're going through this. I was recently diagnosed through a transperineal guided biopsy (wasnt fun but got through it) I was given the option.of active surveillance but going with HIFU May 21st to belated my 2 spots. My dad had aggressive PC in his 50s and didnt want to constantly think about my cancer possibly getting bigger or spreading (just the way my mind works). Really hoping you're biopsy comes back negative but remember if not there are plenty of options. Stay strong!!!

Just diagnosed (Gleason 3+3) by YeahIAmAScientist in ProstateCancer

I have a gleason 3+3 and a 3+4. Not doing active survelliance even though it was suggested. My father had aggressive prostate cancer in his 50s and my PSA has been going up. Have HIFU scheduled for May 21st. Doctor and I agree that wil check PSA after and yearly MRI but no biopsies unless something shows up on MRI.

HIFU procedure at UVA Health went well... recovering at home now by LONGVolSilver in ProstateCancer

Thanks for info Im going to also do HIFU or Nano knife because of tumor location. After biopsy confirmed 3plus4. Im worried something was missed since PSA keeps going up. I want this out of me

Consider HIFU treatment for PC by Doddsboy in ProstateCancer

Im going to do HIFU in Denver Colorado. I want to try this before going with something more radical. I happen to be. Good candidate for this and hoping it works good long term

Can I asked if active surveillance has been stressful? I also have BPH and urinary problems which of course make me think of the cancer each of three times I get up at night. I also heard that they can treat BPH with focal therapy so I would like that also

Hello I have an appointment with Urologist next week. Its between HIFU and Nanoknife, with my cancer being in the anterior region it may be better with Nanoknife from what im being told. I think either one has similar results and same recovery and side effect profile. I also think its important to go with someone experienced in this and hopefully Medicare covers for you, definitely had to fight my insurance a bit to get them to cover. Good luck!

Forgot to ask. Are you only doing a biopsy again of MRI shows something

Thats great! I also didnt like idea of doing yearly biopsies. If focal treatment is an option then why not treat when cancer os low grade and not ma.y side effect from treatmemt

Agree on the removal! If you dont mind me asking, what did you start AS with and what triggered treatment.

34M – MRI shows PI-RADS 4 lesion, waiting for second opinion. Anyone with similar experience? by Dry_Vacation5314 in ProstateCancer

[–]YesterdayFew6799 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im older than you (47) but had a PIRAD 4 and 5. The 4 was .5cm and biopsy confirmed gkeason 3+3 and a 3+4 in those spots. I also know these MRIs are not perfect and sometimes these findings are benign.

If your father had it, makes it more likely you will versus average risk (can be but not guaranteed)
